Just finished lunch in the SYD Flounge.Whilst eating a fellow in Ugg boots had no problem entering.

The dress code only applies to domestic lounges, and not even all of them.

I used to have a T-shirt in my carryon for such occasions when visiting the lounge on route to jobs requiring HI-VIS

IMO someone in clean Hi-Vis can still be better presented than someone in a t-shirt. However, assuming that you do change into a T-shirt, where are you doing this? In the concourse or in the lounge? If the latter, you still have to be admitted access. I've had the one occasion where I did head straight to the airport from work, had a shower and changed into jeans a polo and decent shoes, but I realistically needed access to the lounge to do this. At the end of the day, the biggest problem with lounges is poor behavior, which QF tend to ignore.

Not at all. There was a woman in the Flounge wearing gear that looked like she had been gardening all morning. On our way out mrsdrron asked if there was a dress code-yes,smart casual.
Is it being enforced?No.
It should be.Yes we all think so too.

But it isnt the same strict dresscode that applies to the domestic lounges.

You're both right here. QF has written into their Terms and Conditions of use of (all) Clubs that "Smart, Casual" standards apply, and that certain lounges have special rules:

Qantas said:
10.7 Smart, casual dress standards apply as a minimum at all times and entry may be refused if customers do not meet that standard. Bare feet or clothing with offensive images or slogans are not acceptable. In addition, individual lounges may have Club Rules regarding specific items of clothing which are not acceptable. Individual lounge managers will have discretion to administer these standards as they reasonably deem appropriate in the circumstances.

Agreed. It feels good to walk into a lounge where everyone is dressed a minimum of smart casual.

The Bali beach wear belongs in.... ah Bali....

Can't help but think this is a publicity stunt. It's always minor "celebrities" that seem to be kicked out due to dress code rules .... and if it wasn't for twitbook, we'd never hear about these sort of things.

i Have given up trying to fathom the clothing choices made by many people today. It would seem appropriateness of dress, and for that matter , demeanour / behaviour, is a foreign concept and they blithely sail through life, devoid of any clue. I must be getting old !! :)

YMMV :) The older I get the less I care what others wear.

There is a simple solution to the dress code problem and different interpretations and opinions of what is acceptable and what isn't. There should be a blanket rule that simply bans all clothing. You go in there as naked as the day you were born. Problem solved!

I was at the great barrier reef and some guy was wearing these
