UA pax wakes up in hanger

I've been known to sleep on planes but have never been left behind. Surely someone is responsible for checking there is nobody left behind?

Obviously the plane wasn't (properly) cleaned prior to being shut down for the night?

Tom Wagner woke up Friday night and the plane cabin was dark. And empty. Completely empty.

He looked around from his window seat near the back of the jet and wondered, "What is going on?"


He tried the jet door. It was locked.
He told CNN affiliate KTRK that he called his girlfriend, and she thought he was kidding, or crazy.


She called United Airlines and about 30 minutes later, the door opened up.

He was on an Express Jet aircraft operating a UA Express service.

"An ExpressJet passenger remained on board flight 4245, operating as United Express from Lafayette, La. to Houston on Friday, Dec. 6, after all passengers had deplaned. ExpressJet is investigating to determine how this occurred. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused for the passenger."

Must be. I can sleep through many things, and most places, but I always wake up just before or at touchdown.

Back in the day I was often jolted awake up by the noise/rumble/vibrations of the wheels touching down and brakes being applied - sometime I even nodded back off while taxiing, but I have never failed to disembark.

I used to be exactly the same when doing the monorail.

How can you miss someone still on board? Dont you have to go through every row checking?

Doesnt always happen. You dont want to do it on the last service of the night either!
