Mods will no doubt shift this to where it should be:

When booking a UA Dom 1st Class flight does that not guarantee you Lounge access? What is this:

Do you need to buy this to gain access to Lounge?

The only way to get complimentary United Club lounge access before a stand alone USA domestic First or Business Class UA flight is to be of Star Gold status in a non North American Star Alliance carrier, such as KrisFlyer.

Double bugger - wish I had known that before pulling the trigger and paying - still would have needed to buy the Ette access

Why? SQ *A Gold card will get you in the UA Lounge on any UA flight / fare (just not Polaris Lounges - if that’s what you were hoping for? They’re J fare longhaul only).

I’m unsure where you are travelling from but lounge access in the US is…complicated to out it mildly. First it is a myth that you don’t get lounge access travelling domestically in the US with status or flying business. For United specifically, that only applies for United Clubs. But if there is another Star Alliance lounge like Air Canada, Lufthansa, SAS, etc. you are more than free to use those lounges. Similarly, as someone else noted if you hold frequent flyer status with an airline outside the US you’ll have access to the lounges irrespective of itinerary

You can access United Clubs with another A*G card for onward travel on *A.
Or if you are at an airport that has other Star Alliance lounges (i.e. AC at LGA, LAX, EWR, LH at EWR, JFK, IAD, DTW, etc.) you can also get in as a United Premier Gold or business class traveller flying United Domestic.
