No offer has been made other than credit me the fare difference in Points
That's pretty sad. But not unexpected for Qantas.

This! How hard is it to say - we will give you X,000 points as compensation? It costs them nothing.
I guess this is Qantas were talking about though.

Yes, the 'cabin downgrade' email states:Business class lounge access, and presumably the other benefits such as priority check-in and baggage allowances.
Already offered by the airlineDon't forget ORC
My bad. I’d missed that in the text posted by OP.Already offered by the airline
...
Demotion often occurs at the last minute because they are hoping for no- shows
Don't forget ORC - if it's not amended on the account within 7 daysMy bad. I’d missed that in the text posted by OP.
Yes indeed. However, my experience with UA has been somewhat different.Could have been worse. They could have gone the United Airlines David Dao method!
That would have been so much better. Dr Dao became a millionaire from that - and we're not talking about a million points.Could have been worse. They could have gone the United Airlines David Dao method!
Thanks for the update.Update - Dom J lounge access granted after scanning BP. Retained Boarding Group 1.
After settling in lounge, was called to reception where Reception staff handed me new boarding passes 6A/C. She said I’ve blocked the middle seat for you.![]()
… FA came up to me and said you've now been upgraded to F. OK, we reluctanly trudged off to F
Probably changed to an A220 flightThis just happened to my in laws, booked on the MEL-BNE & then onto BNE-MNL all in J and advised that they have been downgraded to Y on the MEL-BNE flight
Correct A220-300Probably changed to an A220 flight
Have no idea but were told about 45mins prior to boarding in the lounge, they were told it was oversold by 3 seats (apparently) and only economy was on offer. Since being elderly they have little choice and they wouldn't made the connection (without the added stress)It either going to be crew travelling on duty, an equipment change, or inoperable seats.
I don’t think Qantas routinely overbooks business class?
I do wonder about this @MEL_TravellerI don’t think Qantas routinely overbooks business class?
Most likely pilot or engineering crew, on duty. We saw that above in Pushka’s case.I do wonder about this @MEL_Traveller
My MEL-CNS flight did not have an aircraft change, it was always a B737.
I purchased 2 CR seats in Business in August last year, and selected 3D/F.
Nothing changed until T25 when I got the cabin change sms.
The 2 people seated in 3D/F were unrelated separate travellers.
Maybe they paid $1500 cash fares for those seats.![]()
