Trip(.com) $100 off all Rex business class fares (each way)

Just got an email from trip(.com). Special promo deal with Rex, looks like $100 off Rex J class each way. The sample date they give is 19 Oct MEL-SYD, with a fare of $248. $30 canx fee (pretty much same same as rex I think?)

All other flights around the same price, for example MEL-OOL or SYD-OOL.

SYD-ADL is more expensive at $310.

Rex’s website lists fares at the standard price ($100 more)

Wrong question. Shouldn't it be one of the following:

Is Rex Business Class worth $88 more than Rex economy?

Or is it worth paying $142 less to fly Rex business than you would pay to fly VA economy, or $204 less than you would pay to fly QF economy around the same time.

Rex business would be worth $88 more than economy… if the planes were full and you were nicely settled in your 2+2 seating.

As it is, with $25 upgrade bids being regularly accepted, it’s probably not ‘worth’ it, except for some peace of mind that you have your seat in business confirmed, don’t have to stress about the upgrade, and can choose your favourite seat.

On time performance is pretty good. Food is great.
