US hotel prices are out of control… Two visits this year and lots of $$$$. Fortunately found value in some AirBnBs for longer stays.Yes
Most travel will be in the US and even a basic Hampton Inn is often 400 per night.
Canada is the same, although at least the AU$ is better thereUS hotel prices are out of control… Two visits this year and lots of $$$$. Fortunately found value in some AirBnBs for longer stays.
Vancouver was insanely expensive when we were there a few weeks ago. Maybe because it was around Labor Day but still. Found a great AirBnB for half the price. Montreal - not so bad. New England was just crazy $$$$.Canada is the same, although at least the AU$ is better there

I'm glad we only need one hotel night next year, that's a painful $800AUD because we need space for four of us.US hotel prices are out of control… Two visits this year and lots of $$$$. Fortunately found value in some AirBnBs for longer stays.

We have cut back from twice a year to UK/EU to just once from 2024. It is getting more and more expensive, but when you have a child and grandchild residing permanently in the UK, there is a very strong draw. Will probably go less, but stay longer. Is anyone concerned about the plummeting value of AUD in terms of travel next year? Are you being conservative with your plans?
May I ask where you stay in Cairns and PD?A couple of domestic trips to watch cricket in Sydney and Brisbane in January start the year. Then it is two weeks in Adelaide from late February to go to the Adelaide Festival for the fifth time. From mid-April it is our big one for the year. After a week visiting relatives in Sydney, we will fly JAL for the first time for a couple of days in Yokohama (at the new Yokohama Hilton), 10 days in London, 8 in Paris and 5 in Rome before boarding Silver Spriit for a 37 day voyage. It's around the Western Med then up to the UK for a 12 day circumnavigation. On the way home it is 4 or 5 days in Tokyo at the Conrad. From late July it is a month in Cairns and Port Douglas to escape the winter in Melbourne. After that, who knows. I too am in shock at hotel prices in Europe.
