Anyone know of any companies that cover expensive jewellery? If your engagement ring for example is worth around $20k do you have to leave it at home and insure it under contents, or is there someone who will cover for travel?

Im amazed from what I can see so far most only seem to cover up to around $5k?

Forget travel insurance, you need to look at home and contents insurance that will cover contents away from the home - including O/S if necessary. Depending on the item, the cost to include cover out of the home may not be that great (after all, it won't be left at home to be stolen if you are done over whilst away, will it?)

As equus said, for expensive jewellery ring your home and contents insurer and ask about having individual items listed on your contents policy that include them being insured out of the home.
It's a pretty common thing but generally you need to phone them as the internet quote systems often can't handle it properly.

Get a stunt ring for travel and leave the good stuff in at home in a safe, moissanite not CZ. Only a jeweller will know the difference.

Depending on how much expensive jewellery you have, you can always take out individual insurance on that piece? I use Q Report which has worldwide cover. Gives you handy piece of mind.

This list The truth about travel insurance and high value items has insurers which cover high value items up to $15,000. You'd have to check whether they all cover jewellery though because it doesn't specify.

Thanks everyone. I checked with the contents insurance and it provides coverage for 30 days away from home so should be o.k
