I've looked around and can't find anything definitive. I am a QLD resident and I need to Fly to Sydney on July 7th and back to BNE on July 9th for a work meeting. This is before the opening on the 10th.

Does anyone know if this is allowed? Is anyone currently commuting? I have one of the certificates but it isn't clear to me if this is ok.

Thanks for your help.

I sent one of my guys down a month or so ago. Sent him with a ton of paper work - stating travelling for essential business etc.

No questions asked on the way there.

On his return he had to fill in a form stating where he was sitting on the plane and that was it. (he had the entry paperwork from QLD Govt websites, but apparently that is only needed for car entry).

Noone asked why he was travelling or for any proof that it was essential.

Yes but quicker if you do the online exemption certificate. Those of us that had done it online were out of there quicker when arriving in BNE from MEL.

This was the pass my guy had, it's the only one you can get. They weren't even interested in it at the airport and told him it was for vehicle entry only, which kinda defeats the purpose of having it.

You will have to demonstrate that you're an exempt resident on your return or face a quarantine period.

Upon arrival at BNE from CBR last week, I had to provide the QLD Entry Pass together with proof of my exempt person status (in my case this was a letter from a doctor), and another form provided by VA.

That's where it gets so confusing. HappyDude your link states that an exempt resident is:

Queensland residents
A person who:
  1. ordinarily resides in Queensland; or
  2. is moving to Queensland to make Queensland their principal place of residence.
I normally live in Brisbane. Is that enough?

Your BNE address just confirms you're an exempt resident. You'll still need a travel pass and confirm that you haven't been to a hotspot or OS in the last 14 days (or perhaps some other high risk category), and if you have, you'll need to self quarantine.

Though getting off the plane you just walk a short distance and met by ADF personnel. When you have the exemption certificate then directed to another ADF fellow who has a list of all passengers due to arrive.Ticks you off and are on your way.Don't have the form and you are sent to a row of seated police.Yes as a resident you will still get through but you take a little more time.filling the online form only took a few seconds.

For QLD residents flying back into BNE from NSW or SA or transferring on to another flight in QLD say CNS, if you can prove QLD residency e.g. a QLD drivers licence, question is, when should you do the QLD resident entry permit online? 5 days before you arrive in BNE or 5 mins before you arrive in BNE?

No time frames given on any of these interstate border permissions/exemptions as to how long any "approval' or review process takes so pretty much a confusing guessing game at the moment trying to fly interstate for work.

@eastwest101, the fruit of the online approval "process" takes less than 5mins to hit your inbox.

Do it at the departure gate like everyone on my flight to BNE on Friday because the required form had changed as of midday. There was quite a bit of confusion on arrival and judging by the tears from those in a roped-off section, more than a few poor souls had been caught out. I was not asked for proof to support my claim that I was visiting an ill relative.

Thanks for answering, were QLD police/army nsisting on hard/paper copies or was the email on a phone sufficient for you to get through?

Was there an expiry date or a use by date on the resident returning to QLD permit? And if not , your report seems to imply that anyone with a say valid version 12 permit was pulled up if version 13 of the permit system was rolled out (possibly while the passengers were in the air?), or was it a case of people being completely unaware of the "system"?

The SA police at the NSW / SA border said that they were up to version 9 of their permit entry system/paperwork in the last few weeks with version 10 expected soon!

For anyone pulled up at state borders or in airports with invalid or out of date permits to travel it might pay to ask which version of the entry system they are relying on and when this new version was issued or came into force.
