Travel Bank funds expiration

Sorry, I could not get my search function to work.
I have funds in my travel bank with an expiry of 28Jul2018.
ie they were deposited 12 months prior to that date.
I understand that the funds need to be used by the above date but
can they be used to pay for a flight in the 12 months beyond 28Jul2018.
Or must any flight purchased with these funds be flown up to or before 28Jul2018 ?

I assume so long as the funds are debited before that date. Eg book flights today that are for October 2018 but funds are taken off the card today and not on the date of the flight
