There's very little difference. The hard product is the same (average) and the service is similar (good). The catering will be similar to what you get on longer domestic flights and the crew on those trans-Tasman flights are NZ-based.

Flew J on both recently, DRW to Perth. QF have better lounges, QF food was better, QF were more tentative (table cloths). QF better sparkling wine. VA are good, however I prefer QF.
