After much searching I have finally found a more convenient J class awards seat from Melbourne to Milan. QF9 MEL -LHR arriving at 5.05 am and then transferring to a BA flight 564 at 07.15am to LIN.
It would all be on the one ticket but it looks like the BA flight is leaving from a different terminal. In these trying travel times is 2hrs 10 min enough time for me to transfer? The thought of transferring through London is more appealing than my current trip through DPS where I will have to get a visa. All information gratefully received or if there is already a thread on this please point me in the right direction. thanks.

Connection time for between terminal transits is 90 minutes. On a single ticket you should be OK and there are several other BA flights to Milan later in the day if QF9 runs late. Only had one trip into LHR recently but processes seemed reasonably efficient

Fine to do, assuming QF9 is on time. If not, it's QF's problem to re-route you anyway.
