Hi my partner and I are thinking of travelling on Malinda airlines and then Turkish airlines via KL (all booked on the Turkish airlines website as one trip) to Istanbul at the end of June.

The first flight leaves us with a stop over of 15 hours in KL(Malaysia) (arriving at 7.15am and leaving at 23.05).

We are both Australian citizens, I am a British national also. My wife is also a Chilean national.

Can anyone confirm what risks we are taking being in KL for 15 hours (ie do we have to provide any evidence that we don't have Covid (PCR or RAT) to board our plane to Turkey (also do we need to provide anything or Malinda airwayds plane department Perth? We are both triple Pfizer vaxed in Australia and I have also had Covid19.
Are we aloud to leave the airport and go into KL?

Also does anyone know what the visa requirements are for us to arrive in Istanbul?

Any help is appreciated.

Many Thanks

Yes you are but you will need:
Predeparture Covid PCR
- and-
RAT (called RTK in Msia) test within 24hrs of arrival (must be a supervised one). I believe available at KLIA - see here for details (prices and locations included)
In regards to the RAT test within 24 hours on arrival, what happens if you are in Malaysia for less than 24 hours and you go to catch your flight to another country. Will they let you through customs, will they let you board the plane? Does that requirement for the RAT still stand if you arent even in the country for 24 hours?

They will let you enter Malaysia but you need to upload results of a supervised RAT within 24hrs to the app.

I don’t know what happened if you leave within 24hrs without a RAT. Why poke the bear?. There are supervised RATS at the airport - just do one there

I think the condition of entry into country means you need to have a supervised RAT but they give you 24hrs to upload it

Well it’s a moot point now, seems Malaysia have relaxed all testing requirements for the vaccinated from 1 May.
