Hi All, I’m flying to Maldives from Sydney in March. I redeemed points for the flight from Sydney to Singapore, and made a separate redemption booking for the flight from Singapore to Maldives. The flight arrives in a Singapore at 2.15pm and the flight to Male leave Singapore the next day. I don’t want to have to go through immigration and customs so booked the airside hotel. Do you think Singapore Airlines will let me check my bags all the way through even though the 2 legs are on separate tickets?
Thanks in advance!

Based on this webpage, I don't think its looking good:

"Please ensure your full journey, including your transit flight to Singapore, is booked on a single itinerary. Travellers with existing bookings can check their itinerary's travel advisories via Manage Booking."

There is a request form which may help you find the right information or they might be able to help find a solution like put it on the one booking. https://www.singaporeair.com/request.form

You could try your luck at checkin, but if it is not allowed, and you are on a VTL flight from SYD to SIN it will cost you $125 per passenger to enter the country (that is for an arrival test).

Another link straight from the SQ website:
"Customers should book the full journey on one ticket, instead of splitting it up into separate tickets, to comply with regulatory requirements during this period."

You would be denied check in since you wouldn't have a VTP.

I often fly with multiple separate bookings and SQ have always linked them together for me at check-in. I think they told me the limit was a 24 hr layover.
I have also just flown to Lisbon from Melbourne with 3 separate bookings. MEL - SIN and SIN - LHR redemption and LHR to Lisbon paid with TAP airline. At Melbourne they checked my luggage all the way to Lisbon which was great as otherwise I would have had to get extra PCR test in LHR if I went landslide.

The problem with linking reward flights prior to flying is it can only be done with a phone call and current wait times can be 2 hrs+

Thanks! I have spoken to the airline and they said they should be able to do this at check in but they kept putting me on hold to double check so I was a bit nervous. Your reply gives me some hope! I might just make sure I do the Singapore paperwork just incase!

Yes, must be applied for at least 7 (??) days in advance - but this could be a good backup plan. I don’t think it costs to apply for VTP.
Thanks! Might do that just incase
