We did  a short notice point redemption BXG SYD WLG just before new year. Our experience mirrored the O P.
It was over an hour after lift off before the hostie bothered to show herself and offer any meal or drink service. I could see them just fluffing around in the front and did not look to be doing anything really. I had to ask for a top up of the drinks and really, I felt a bit awkward about it.
