Still, countryside is beautiful, cut and thrust of breakaway and peloton and also sprinters before the mountain stages is interesting. Oh and the best bit every Château that you have a flyover of.

The emotion that Cavendish displayed after crossing the line was amazing.Totally unlike all his previous stage wins. And it came 16 years after his first stage win at the Tour.

It's shaping up to be a great tour. But damn this time of year, especially this year with the Euros going on. I don't sleep much in July usually and there's no respite with the Olympics just round the corner too.

I'm in the wrong hemisphere!

A couple of days ago, we saw a sign in a field in Brittany saying "Allez WaWa", which is my 2 yo granddaughter's name for her grandfather. So much better to do something which doesn't wreak havoc on the riders. I understand that WaWa in TDF circles is a pet name for Warren Barguil. But we took so much pleasure seeing it emblazoned across the screen.

Cavendish wins another stage.Again pure joy and went around congratulating his team members. When one said he was in the best form of his life he replied no I have the best team of my life.

The Tour organisers have dropped all charges against the fan who caused the Stage 1 crash. At least one cyclist is considering suing.

Well, I liked the first part but not the second part. Hopefully her grandparents will give her the appropriate discipline (not physical of course but express their disappointment etc etc with their grandchild) that the rest seem reluctant to do. Be interesting to know if she finally surrendered or was outed by others who knew her.

Anyone else notice how unhappy Mike Tomalaris looked in the middle (support) seat on last night's Bonjour Le Tour ?

Well, of course, the Bonjour program is garbage. Just watch the daily wrap up- the highlights.

Even better to watch the race.31KM from the finish and Ben O'connor from WA is third on this stage and in virtual second place but the lead rider in the Peloton has just gone off the road on the descent so they have slowed dramatically.

The race is broadcast at quite a civilized hour over here in the West. We watch about half the nights race each night. Then the next morning, before looking at any internet stories, we watch the second half of the race with a coffee or tea. It's like a 3 week holiday for us.

Also being in the West we usually manage to watch the entire race live as we don't have to worry about work. With O'connor 8 mins up with 6 km to go we will certainly stay up.
