I'm not a fanatic, but the scenery is nice :)

All this talk about chances of Richie Porte winning - but he's only a domestique this year, so very, very difficult?

I see the chef from last year is back; I liked his style over the previous guy (albeit nstuck in Australia).

I am so excited to see this. Almost like normal. Sigh.

Challenge is to drink the tour. Each night you have a wine from the region they're going through. I suppose if they pass through two regions, two wines would be required. Could be dangerous.
Can't wait until they get to Epernay then. We were there the day after they had been through that region.

I enjoyed watching the Giro this year. Also wonderful scenery.
And I don't even ride a bike!

Two massive crasheson the first stage,
First caused by an idiot spectator.
Chris Froome fell heavily in the second.Finished the stage but may no start tomorrow.

"NY Times journalist Juliet Macur wrote: “An imbecile fan caused this massive crash at the #TourDeFrance2021 by holding a sign that jutted into the course and took down the first of countless riders. The sign said, ‘Go, grandpa and grandma’. Those grandparents must be so proud.”

So the consequences of the idiot spectator was that 3 did not finish the stage and 23 more will not start Stage 2.
Add on another 4 who will not start stage 2 after the second crash means that 30 riders will have been removed from the race after the first stage.Basically a sixth of the riders gone.

Boy it's a long time since I made one of those. Maybe I should plan for one of the 14th July
Off topic but it's France. We were in Beaune on 14 July. In my schoolgirl French I said Happy Bastille Day. The guy at the market looked at me like an alien. I slunk away.

Stage 3 has seen several more crashes.Quite possibly several will not there be there tomorrow. In particular for Australia Caleb Ewan and Jack Haig who was in 5th position both spent a long time on the road with doctors in attendance.

Ewan is out of the race, having sustained a broken collarbone in the crash, which occurred in the last 200m of the stage for which he was in 3rd place. Some riders and the pro cyclist union blaming the multiple crashes on the course conditions and the choice of route: “twisty narrow roads made even more treacherous by early rain”

It was a poor weather day. And cyclists continuing to try to ride despite obviously incredibly painful injuries.

We turned on SBS last night to watch the highlights as we have done for some 30 years and found this absolute garbage. What a travesty and complete dumbing down for addicts of Le Tour. To have Mike Tomalaris reduced to a talking head on the couch trying to inject some actual cycling comments on Le Tour while the other two wank on about garbage is appalling.

Bonjour Le Tour - new Tour de France preview show to air on SBS in 2021: Tune into SBS every evening during the 2021 Tour de France for a brand new live preview show to get you in the mood for each stage of the greatest cycling race in the world.

edit: Ah! They still do have a highlights package. It's now called "Tour De France 2021 Morning update" Broadcast at 7:00am and 12:00 pm!

PVR in action or OnDemand I suppose.
