TomCat's Suite Adventure

It is always a lovely touch to have 2 Suites each as the bed to seat adjustment is beyond our mechanical skill. It isn't always available and the Singapore flight attendants are pretty quick at doing the conversion anyway. Have been doing two for a long time now as SQ rarely have all the Suites in use.

There were only five in the cabin yesterday which was great.

Survived our first evening in Tokyo. Finding it a little overwhelming as I've never been here before but I'm sure I'll settle in in a day or two. Really looking forward to a night at the Conrad.

First thanks for taking the time to post, I know how time consuming it can be to do live TR, especially with large quantities of alcohol in your system :p

Now, how would do rate F compared to R?

Conrad Tokyo is fantastic! Did you manage to get P+P rate?
Hope you booked good restaurant in Ginza that night.

Have only now got round to reading the full trip report, and enjoying all the details and photos, plus all the champagne!
I know a lot of planning went into this, and hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip. Will follow your posts with interest. :)

What an amazing trip you have planned.

Only the other day I flew my first proper F sector and was completely underwhelmed, QF93 was meh when comparing to the J product.

Looking forward to the rest of your journey and I dare say as are many others! :D

I'm glad to hear that as we're doing R later this year.

We've been to this one last year when also staying in Conrad: http://www.kyubey.jp/en/en_shoplist_ginza

There are so many good Japanese restaurants in that area and I'm sure the concierge can give you some recommendations. It's nice and easy walk to Ginza.

I did F MEL-SIN then R SIN-HKG with an overnight layover a few days ago. I actually preferred the F flight as I had the cabin to myself and 3 FAs looking after me. I'm sure I'd feel differently if I had to share the cabin though!

President Chibo, in the Ginza corridor is a nice teppanyaki restaurant, good fun, nice atmosphere, good food and not too expensive. Should be easy walk from the Conrad or hop the train for one stop.

I was straight back into the Krug until the meal service, which started with satay. I may have had a second helping

Followed by lobster and caviar (with vodka, thanks cove)

Next up was the soup

I skipped the salad to go to my main of the chicken and prawn laksa.

Now I was rather stuffed at this point, and a little tired, so we asked the FA if we could have dessert later, and if they could possibly make up 2C&D as our bed (picture up thread). Of course they were more than happy to oblige.

Apologies, I neglected to take photos of the menu, blackcat20 has those.

While the beds were being made, we went for a little guided tour of the rest of the aircraft

I chose the Dom for this flight, as I figured I couldn't do a fair comparison without trying both champagnes.

After the satay, I had the crab.

Then the salad

Finished off with the chicken rice (BTC)

After our tour and a snooze, we returned to our seats for another drink and some dessert. I swapped back to Krug as I found it more enjoyable than the Dom.

With the dessert, I had a Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. If you like coffee, I recommend it. It was very smooth. It would probably be a crime to dilute it with milk or sugar. And to cap off the flight I asked for a glass of the Macallan which was also excellent.

Upon disembarking the aircraft, we had a fair hike to reach immigration, but that was offset by the fact that there was nobody else in front of us, and then as soon as we arrived at the baggage claim, the bags were being pulled off the carousel for us :)

That meant that we we out in a matter of minutes, rail passes exchanged, and on the NEX to Tokyo.

I am admiring your stamina TomVexille. I too am a big The Macallan fan when rounding off a night of Krugification on SQ

Danger well done with expanding our English language with the word Krugification. Now I know it probably is not the be all of champagnes but it has a certain " je ne sais quoi " about it so I like reserving it for travel on SQ. I do enjoy the SQ staff because none of them actually think their A380 product is the best so they certainly try hard with their in flight service.

Well done Tom.3 satay sticks are never enough so a second helping to me would be essential.Maybe even a third....:oops:;)
