Hi All

Bronze QFF'er here with a heap of QFF Points :)

Booked an economy fare for myself and my wife, MEL to PER (A330) - Went to process a business upgrade and usually where it normally auto confirms, this time it went to "Requested" status

It's been sitting there ever since, Checked Expert Flyer and it seems only two seats in the cabin are sold

What sort of time frame does Qantas normally confirm the upgrade on Domestic? We fly on Sunday the 19th November, should I have received it by now or not for a while?

If you are lucky enough to get the upgrade, its about 24 hours prior to departure.

There was a bug at some point in the past where requests would just sit there and never come through even though U class was available. If you have EF membership you can check for U class availability. Also you can cancel the request and just resubmit it again.

Check whether there are award seats avalable on the flight. If they are available it should confirm straight away.
If there are no award seats available, then you have to wait...

With the caveat that IME you need to request the upgrade after the booking is "ticketed". It normally takes about 10 minutes to ticket (if booked via QF website, but longer for 3rd party websites). You know it is ticketed once you receive the confirmation email.

IME if you request an upgrade before ticketing occurs (i.e. after you have booked, but before you receive the confirmation email), the upgrade will be stuck in a loop somewhere in the system and never get processed, even once ticketing has occurred.

The only way I know to fix this is to call QF and ask for the upgrade request to be removed, then re-request an upgrade (again dependent on U availability / Business Class award seats still available on the flight).

Is it the seatmap on EF that you are basing your statement that only 2 seats have been sold? If so, you cannot do so as you haven't taken into account those who have purchased tickets but haven't selected a seat yet.

Look at either the U availability on EF, or if you can purchase 2x Classic awards on this flight. If there is either 2U available or you can purchase the classic award, call QF to have your upgrade request re-submitted. That should have it grant the upgrade for you.

If there isn't the fare availability, you will be waiting until around T-24 to be provided an answer.
