Time taken to assess requalification status and send new card

Thanks for the info! logged in and my status is showing gold. I'm only travelling domestically for the next few months so my boarding pass should suffice. Will wait a while before enquiring.

I am a Velocity Gold flying VS for the first time next month, LHR-EWR. I am very much looking forward to using the clubhouse in T3, but I am concerned because my gold gold has a review date of late July. I have easily re-qualified, but will be overseas even if velocity send the card out on time. Moreover I have the Global Wallet card, which is one of the most unconvincing elite cards in the world, and has no mention of being valid after the review date.

Does anyone have experience dealing with VS in such situations? I have a feeling their IT is not great and they may not be able to see that my gold status is still valid on their system.

The new cards now show both a review date and an expiry date - but that does not help you.

I would be surprised if VS lounge staff would not be able to look your Velocity status up when you present yourself for admission.

Does anyone know what the standard delay is at the moment on a new VFF card. I requalified plat several months ago but am technically up for review in 25th of August. I'm leaving for a 3 week US trip 3 weeks later and will need to use DL lounge access extensively at the end of that trip. I'm a little concerned that if the card doesn't get out promptly i'll be marooned but 3 weeks seems like a reasonable period of time to get a new card out?

I think it varies. Despite me requalifing plat within about 3 weeks of my previous review date, I still has to wait just under the 4 weeks for my new card to be sent out (that was in March). Perhaps a phone call to the plat line may help? Really, this is just poor form on the part of VA. Surely the only ones needing to wait for 4 weeks should be those requiring last minute SC postings to requal.

I had the same issue, PM'd the VFF rep on here and they got the system moving, which meant my new card has been delivered a couple of days before I leave! Thanks VFF :)

I got a Velocity statement by email this morning as part of the email it said I had maintained Plat membership. Looking on the VFF website it still shows me being currently assessed, requal date was only 27/8 but considering I maintained Plat back in March you would have thought the website and emails would match.

I can see this being a perennial problem. VA have known about this for quite a while and haven't done anything about it. I like Virgin, but it's one area where QF look after their premium customers far better. It shouldn't be hard to address - particularly for the most high value Platinums who requalify well in advance of the due date.

I've thought the same thing. I'm certainly no computer nerd, but it would take me about an hour to write a spreadsheet program to work that out. The IT boffins would probably take 30 seconds, so why the issues?

Reporting back on my own situation. leaving for the US in nine days and website still shows under review. Messaged the Velocity Rep and have been provided with a letter (which i appreciate) to show the DL lounge people but been advised not to expect the card until i leave.

It's really not a good system and i struggle to think of a logical reason why it works this way for those who have requalified many months in advance.

That's really not good enough. I don't know why VA can't replicate the QF system whereby the new card arrives about a month prior to the expiry of the current card.
Shouldn't be this hard :(

Apologies if this question is not strictly related to the topic at hand ...

But I was wondering if status credits earned while your account is under review (that is, travel taken after you have hit your review date but before the review is complete) will in fact be credited towards requalification in the following year?

To illustrate with an example:
Review data September 10 2014
Travel e.g. SYD-MEL-SYD on September 17 2014 in discount Y (account still under review)

Will those 20 status credits count towards requalification for the year ending September 10 2015? or will they disappear into Velocity's infamous black hole?

Any experiences you have would be welcome.
cheers.

Yes, I had this situation this year with requal - the account showed as under review for weeks. All my SC came through as counting to the next period.

When I went up levels I did lose SC in the black hole, but not during requal (how it takes weeks I don't know, but it did)

Or another solution I can think of is to make your Status available to your PARTNERS. I think if your BP can print the status that the flyer is a WP or SG lounge access, additional luggage and all SHOULD not be a cause of concern..
