And a public vote for destinations FFS!!

Can't they figure it out them selves? Like an internet vote will give them an exact picture.. Hopeless.
I just get this teensie feeling that you hate Tiger (for whatever reason).

I'd be willing to bet you havent flown them either.

I don't work for any of the airlines involved but I do agree with these sentiments.

How many people actually looked at the site and voted for inappropriate places :?: You don't need a very high percentage to skew survey results such as these.

They know exactly where they want to fly. passenger data is available from the Dept of Transport plus airport owners know the passenger throughput and destinations from their airport...all this voting is a crock of cough
Also beware Govts offering money to get a player in,when the subsidy the NT govt gave DJ ran out ...so did DJ .

DoT stats only reflect currently flown routes. Airlines know their own passenger final destinations - but airport owners may not necessarily have this data. More interestingly though is the question of where Tiger can deploy A319's from ADL that VB hasn't already thought about with their E170, E190, 737-700 mix.:?:

Maybe OLP once the new airport is built. Currently operated by Alliance/QF. It'll be interesting to see if BHP Billition will open up the contract in a couple of years, bearing in mind that employees are not supposed to earn points for business travel ADL<>OLP. But many of them seem to be earning.

Hmm, I thought one of the drivers in switching to a QF marketed flight from a DJ marketed flight was arounf getting ff points etc in the qff scheme

Please clarify as this sounds like hogwash :!:

What's to clarify - it is site policy, that business paid trips on that route are not allow to earn points. This is direct advice from management level on site. Note that they can earn on other routes. There is a similar policy in NSW and SA government. So it not that unusual. Although, NSW let you get SC.

However, some employees add their number online or at service desk/QP. So it's not exactly enforced.

That might have been a driver at the management level that makes these decisions. Perhaps that's reflected in the policy not being enforced. What management want/get and what they give employees can often be very different.

I think capacity was probably a bigger factor. REX was using Saabs (340?) of (what) about 30 to 40 seats. Alliance is flying fokker 50s so about 50 seats. They need a lot of capacity, they bus people from as far away as Port Augusta. Alliance also have the 100 seat fokkers available for when the new airport is built.

But being a competitive company, it wouldn't surprise if they open the contract up at that time to try for a better deal.

IIRC the operator of the flight did not change. It was alliance operating with DJ codesharing, then it was Alliance operating with QF codesharing.

Rex ceased flying in June 2007. From June to November Alliance operated with DJ marketing. From November, it was Alliance operating with QF marketing. This change was in no way shape or form associated with capacity.

Sorry yes, I got that wrong. I got confused with REX. And now you mention it I can vaguely remember my one DJ/alliance flight on the route.

Anyway, I have had detail discussions with people on site about how they can get status for QP and earning on that route has been ruled out for business trips.

Right, all that Tony Davis regional talk (remember the Tamworth comment) is just cough trying to scare people like Rex and QfLink, its all just garbage. If you have an online web poll and the whole country knows about it, and upon Voting they discover "29.95" fares, just watch the revenue rise and rise...My prediction for the ADL hub is to PER(2D), OOL(2D), ASP(3W), MCY(3W), CBR(3W), MKY(3W), HBA(3W) and mabye throw in a CNS service later on.....Good Luck Tiger

I reckon they canned SYD as it was maybe too expensive to set up a base there?
Doesn't sound like a smart move to exclude over 25% of the Australian population.

Hmmm. ADL was rumored to be a high cost airport.
Really? In what way? I have noticed that taxes are lower for most QF flights that route via ADL as opposed to SYD/MEL/BNE.

You don't have to use a service to like or dislike a particular business if their business practices stink :!:
Exactly.
