Funny they would reduce HBA and LST though as thats the peak travel period for the state...if U cant fill seats to tasi over xmas you have no hope

Yes HBA in particular is very difficult to get seats into/out of over this period, especially around new year.

Although I notice at the moment they are only flying 1xdaily into HBA, but it seems the expaned increase to 3/4 daily has been deferred to Feb. Surely must be aircraft delivery problems as January would be the peak period into/out of Tas, demand dropping off in Feb. Bizarre.

Chinese New Year would dictate placing capacity back into the SIN market over Tassie I would have thought, perhaps that explains the reducitons.

Actually TT are just not ready for the fifth addition. They just dont have the crews at this stage to go ahead with the new routes. They are in the stages of hiring, but its going to take time to build up numbers again.

MCY will be a very strong performer over Xmas for TT, so the new additions to the Sunshine Coast are remaining.

It is a great shame, expecially for HBA as you say guys, but if only someone didn't leave the operation in such a mess..

Hmmm dunno. Chinese New Year 26/27 Jan. Original TT expansion to HBA scheduled for 15 Dec. That's about 6 weeks from Chn N/Y. Current TT expansion seems to come online on 2 Feb. That's 5 days from Chn N/Y.

{sorry Sunstar320 didn't see your explanation before posting}

My philosophy is that any plane that arrives is a good plane; I don't care whether it is late, I don't care if it touches down at the wrong airport; as long as it lands somewhere it's been a good flight!!!!
And its a great bonus if the aircraft can be used again ;)

Seems to be some emotion behind this pointed finger Sunstar! If you are not 'related', why get upset.

.........Now getting back to the troubles at the cattery.

Tiger will drop MEL-CBR & MEL-ROK from DEC 15
....
Not a good sign going into the Xmas holiday period:rolleyes:

....thanks for posting this, I checked my reservation for MEL-CBR in Jan 09 and it appears Tiger has changed the flights I was booked on, but didn't bother notifying me of the change - coughholes! The flights that they've changed me to don't work at all time-wise (instead of arriving in MEL first thing in the morning, they have me arriving in the evening?!).

I try to support competition in Australia but when they pull stunts like this I am very reluctant to.

As soon as I'm back in Australia I'm sure I'll have a fun time calling their call centre to sort out this mess... will keep you all posted :p

My parents had to pull out of a TT trip to LST (on whopping $20 return fares!) for medical reasons. They managed to get their money back - much to my surprise - but solely because TT had shifted the flights by a considerable time (I think it was around 6 or 7 hours).

I rang tiger and they offered me a full refund without any fees.

I was very happy with how they dealt with my issue on the phone, only miffed that I found out of the change via frequentflyer.com.au (no offence to these forums, of course :D)

Hi Bill,

I actually got through first go and I'm dialling via VoIP from the US!

They answered within 5 mins, at around 1:30p Melbourne time!... was quite impressed.. better than the other night I rang Qantas at 12:15am and had to wait for 45min!!

Congratulations bdl :!:

Exceptionally good for Tiger and exceptionally bad for Qantas.

Tiger in trouble? Yes, of course. No-one (except Temasek) likes losing $0.5m a week. More critical for TT, however, will be developing a STRATEGY, of which there are no current outward signs. Instead it looks like a rich kid whose dad has given $300m on a whim to spend on aeroplanes with no idea what to do with them, nor about the market in which it is operating.
Hub-and-spoke point-to-point from one capital city head-to-head with up to three incumbents won't do it.
Hint: two-thirds of the Australian tourism "product" -- the rest of Australia outside a narrow band on on the east coast -- has yet to be developed. It's beyond the scope of a dumbed-down LCC, like DJ, TT or JQ, yet can be done with CASK better than 7.5c.
The starting point is a sound knowledge of the product that's out there (and the market that wants it) and none of the three main groups has it.

Well Tiger were in trouble today on the Sunshine Coast.TT553 MCY-MEL was at least an hour late in leaving due to their IT system going down.It was due to leave at 0910 but at 0915 as I went to security there were still 28 people in the line to check in.I fortunately was on DJ.Even JQ left on time.So we had planes from JQ,DJ and TT all at the terminal at the same time.As we went down the runway at 1005 the TT plane was still at the terminal with the front stairs in place.
CrazyDave if you read this pass on a big thankyou to your checkin staff at MCY-once again given an exit row-I appreciate their service.
