Three airlines one [QF] ticket BNE-LHR

I have an award ticket booked through Qantas - BNE-MEL (QANTAS) - MEL-HKG (CATHAY) - HKG-LHR (BA).

I have been told that I can check my bags at Brisbane Domestic right through to LHR. Is this true given that it is three different airlines? If I do need to collect and recheck bags in HKG - the connection time will be too short. Not sure if Qantas can ticket other airlines? Any assistance would be appreciated.

My flight is in July 23.

A question which sorta partially gives a reason for the answers to the original question … but the tickets for each leg would surely have a Qantas flight-number for the flights being operated by Cathay and BA, wouldn’t it? Or are there actually situations where Qantas would sell you a ticket on another One World airline, but for which there is no QF flight-number?

In other words (unless I’m wrong & there are exceptions I’ve not heard of), these are effectively just three “Qantas” flights, hence not “effectively“ any different to getting a single booking which flies you on Qantas BNE-MEL & the onto a MEL-LHR Qantas flight in Melbourne … ?

I believe Reward flights are booked on the operating airline code?

It doesn't need to be Qantas selling the ticket, the ticket could have been sold by Cathay or BA and have operating flight numbers on it.

Qantas do indeed sell flights that are operated by other carriers (for example BA below) and there is not a QF flight number on it. Regardless having a QF flight number on the ticket makes no difference to through check.
