This site needs to rethink advertising

The ad in the picture is in the middle of someone's post. Despite the text at the bottom saying it's an ad, it's still too easily misconstrued as part of the post. I don't think I've ever seen ads inserted between paragraphs of someone's post before.

I can understand ads being placed in page headers/footers and sporadically in between posts in a thread (which is the current situation), but seeing an ad in the middle of a post is just completely over the top and in-your-face.

I tried to sign in on my PC the other day but gave up. Before I could complete the sign in, an add kept popping up telling me how I could stop adds from popping up. It covered the sign in button so I couldn't select it. I'll try taking a picture and posting it.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

I'm a Gold member as well but I had to install adBlocker as I have low PC memory and bandwidth. From memory I've still had to exclude AFF from adBlocker as instructed.

Ads destroy my browsing on most websites.
This is the whole point for me too. In a country lacking ubiquitous unlimited data plans and with a second-rate, crippled unfinished NBN, anyone who quite frankly DOESN"T do everything they possibly can to filter out all the useless junk on the internet all the time, quite honestly needs their head read.

You're paying all the time for everything you get/see/do on the internet via your eyeballs seeing ads, via the metadata of your online activity being captured and sold on to marketeers, via your own personal data you (foolishly) give away for free through your addiction to social media and finally of course by the real money you're paying to your ISP for the priviledge of them using your data allowance to send you the advertising cough you don't want.

You're paying all the time whether it feels like that to you or not. Anyone who doesn't do everything they can to limit this continuous rip off as much as they possibly can is a bit naïve. A bit differet of course if you're on a 100Mb/s NBN FTTB connection with a unlimited data allowance, but seeing as how at time of writing, such connections are unicorns in this country it's not really all that relevant.
