The Velocity Status Run Master thread

I'm in the process of booking a status run. I noticed that some of these business-class fares have mixed cabins. When I clicked status earn, it showed SYD-BNE-CNS = 135 status credits. Will I still get that if one of BNE to CNS is economy cabin - business?

SYD-BNE in J is 55 SC
BNE-CNS in J is 80 SC
135 SC total

if one leg is economy, the booking will show 1 leg in J & 1 leg in Y & you'll receive less than the 135 SCs.

Saab340 and they don't have business class seats. You do get business class status credits and points, but you won't be sitting in a business class seat.
This is good to know as I've got a similar situation coming up, in a Fokker, rather than a Saab and wanted to know whether I'd get the J SC or not. Let's hope that I will.

You have to get the SC for the fare you paid. However, if you did not, you can call up the airline and chase up the SCs

That's great. I will certainly keep an eye on it and have a chat to the Velocity team if that doesn't occur. Thanks for your re-assurance.

I am still chasing up SCs from February. 3 phone calls where the first 2 agents didn't know what original routing credits were, and the last agent who said "yeah yeah, all processed" but nothing happened with the posting of SCs. However, I did get the original routing points credited.
Still haven't had a reply to my email to [email protected]. Any ideas on how to escalate would be appreciated.

The original routing was LST-MEL then MEL-BNE all in J for my daughter (pooling) and I.
30 minutes before the LST-MEL leg was due for take off, we got moved to an LST-BNE flight in a middle seat in economy.
This was during the last double status credits run.

I should not have to chase up SCs and refunds. Their systems should be able to transact this.

I agree, should'nt have to chase up these relative basic's, but you know, that's IT system & humans.

It's the old story if you speak to the premium team of VA or the hobart QF team then any issue you have will be sorted in no time, pity these professional can-do staff are so limited.

The HUCA tried method is best, banging the desk doesn't resolve much I've found.
Best of luck fellow AFF.

Same experience here with a UA original routing credit request that I have raised on my current trip. Got transferred 4 times before I apparently found the right person, one of them admitting that whilst I've been transferred to the right department, she has not been trained on this.

Unfortunately this is an absolute s*** show for status pax compared with VA 1.0.

not sure if its been posted here but just booked a fairly good value status run from perth.
PER-MEL-CNS-HND-CNS-SYD-PER 650SC (1300DSC) for $2707 might be possible to reduce that price further with coupons but I couldnt get any to work (possibly because it was for December).

$2.08 per SC although obviously 1300SC is only useful in some scenarios.

That's one heck of a status run!

Very nice and great share for future status runs from PER with DSC! 👌

It seems that the $2707 pricing is not available anymore for Dec 2023 (now $3366). But for months outside the qualifying period (Feb, Mar 2024), I can still see that pricing. Would consider this route on the next DSC offer, so I can gift gold status as plat 😆

Edit: Eventually found that pricing via the app and booked it.

Yesterday I booked OOL-MEL-CBR in J for $761 with the ZXW75 promo code, which felt like an OK price for leaving Coolangatta on a Sunday. That will return 270 SCs with the DSC offer, for $2.82/SC.

The price for the direct flight was $520, and that would have given us 110SCs. So the extra 160 only cost $240.

Booked SYD-MCY for $602.72 with the ZXW75 promo code.
Netting 220 SC with DSC offer for $2.73/SC.
Was cheaper than SYD-MEL or SYD-BNE

Correct me if I m wrong. Reading the t & c for the DSC Promo. DSC only apply to VA flights marketed and operated by Virgin Australia. But the offer does not apply to flights operated by partner airlines.
So that means the ADL-BNE-NTL status run is not eligible as the BNE-NTL leg is Alliance for VA. Is this correct?

Alliance is considered VA metal for DSC offer as it's a domestic VA flight number.

I've flown on Alliance previously under DSC offer & received DSC's. No problem at all.
It's a question that's asked each time DSC offer is opened.

Well done on finding that pricing! I noticed there was a lot of options missing when I was searching on Google flights. I wonder if there are some decent similar runs from other cities as well.
I checked ADL last night and found a similar run albeit at a slightly lower SC and costlier $/SC.
ADL-BNE-CNS-HND-CNS-BNE-ADL
All J seats @ approx $2841, 600SC (1200SC w/ DSC), $2.37/SC.

I can confirm that when the flights were credit to my Velocity account, the Fokker flights were credited as Flex Economy flights. So, I rang Velocity, explained the situation, was put on hold briefly and they told me that they'll rectify the situation. When I checked later that day, the missing SCs were added to my account (two transactions, one for each flight). Good news overall, luckily.
