I’m looking to get 85SC before Christmas.
I had two work trips in December cancelled, which I was counting on to hit Platinum. Any suggestions ex-BNE or ex-OOL for a day trip are welcome!

Ex-OOL will generally get you cheaper pricing, although maybe not as much capacity. BNE/OOL-MEL is a Zone 2, so higher SCs on offer.
Possibly to HBA or LST via MEL? On a choice fare that would get you 80SC, so you'd need 1 more leg.
From BNE you could do CNS (Zone 2) in J one way (80SC) and then Lite (7SC) or Choice (20SC) on the way back.
Check your pricing and work from there.

Does anyone know if I’m velocity gold and krisflyer gold and am flying virgin short haul to Bali , can I use the enhanced status benefits as a krisflyer gold member ? ( does it provides enhanced benefits ?)

Just noticed Bali is the perfect place to fly for a status run. It's *just* long enough to fall into the highest tier, so you'd get 280 SC in total flying return in J!
It sure is! Have booked a SYD-DPS run for February since there doesn't seem to be any further status support on the way.

I do wonder if we’ll see double SC return anytime soon. I theorize it wouldn’t happen before end of June when the bonus SC promo lapsed this year but who knows…

All the best plans...
Todays status run, 2 of 3 flights cancelled this morning for todays flights.
Now on a direct, but that puts an end to requalifying aspirations.
Not feeling the VA love.... "Bring on wonderful" What actually does that mean?

Ask for original routing credit.

From the airline perspective getting you to your destination is wonderful, the team managing the rebooking wouldn’t know your intention was a status run! They see a pax that’s about to be disrupted and sorted your travel out…

Yep, they would absolutely think they are doing the right thing and 90% would think that is wonderful. In your case maybe it’s not what you wanted but you can call up and get ORC no problems at all

As others have said, they’ll give you the credits as originally booked. If you don’t want to call, you can email the special gold or platinum emails. I got it resolved in a few days.

Have booked a status run return trip with the wife Brisbane to Cairns in J in Febuary to maintain Platinum. I need 217 status credits.

Both the flight up to Cairns and the return flight are $399.00 each in J for 320 status credits. Also looked at Brisbane to Launceston via Melbourne in J which were $584 each on the flight down and $585 each on the flight back for 540 status credits.

Decided on Cairns as accommodation and hire car expensive in Launceston.

Anyone looking for a cheap exotic SR, I saw this thread over on FT:

Edit: it’s actually around A$1,488 booking sooner (Feb thru May by the looks) for 370 SCs (does that sound right?)

Replicated on ITA Matrix at A$1,627:

Even the QR options are reasonably cheap!
