The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Do you know if rewards flights accrue status credits? As I understand it, using points to upgrade to business doesn't get me status..?

No reward flights don't accrue SCs. If you upgrade to business you'll get the SCs for the original paid fare.

Relooking at this. AKL to BNE is only 1427 miles according to the VA website so that's 45x 2 and 60 x 2 for domestic C so total of 210 however if you flew to CHC it is the same deal with same price just less sleeping hours and that is 1553 miles getting you your 240 SC.
Relooking at this. My friend has booked this. It's a bit confusing as to whether he will get premium saver SC domestically or C SC so wondering if there's a sure and fast way to tell prior to his flights. I wasn't sure so i just told him fly and find out haha.

It books into the business category domestically as far as fare classes go.

Yep he's definitely in C domestically. What's the gospel here? He sent me everything and confirmation email lists fare class as Premium saver, tax invoice lists fare family as premium saver but again booked domestically into C, eticket lists the domestic as "business/D". Confusing as... haha.

Fare class booked is what gets credited.

SYD-PQQ-BNE-SYD
VA lounge SYD -nice breaky...not busy
2 hrs in port ...no wifi, no heating , (14 degrees) & no bar , also arrivals/departures board cant cope with weekend schedule so told to ignore it.
BNE...nice as per usual catching up with friends
BNE_SYD i had a row all to myself, much to the angst of those around me....thank you VA. Nice way to end the run.

30 SC/ 3 flights
So now I am finally GOLD!!!!!!!

I can now go back to flying for pleasure & not for SC's.....although I will be 10 SC short for platinum halfway thru my sept trip.......walk away from the VA site :)

How long ago did you get to 500sc's ? Normally a couple of days...

Think I might be asking some questions in 12 months time as I've currently being reviewed for my WP to SG fall. How long does it take to drop? My account has been saying it's being reviewed for the past 4 days.

Your assessment is usually done in 2 weeks from your review date . i.e. my review date was the 29th April & i was advised on the 12th May , admittedly this was just reconfirm I was staying Gold , but i don't think it would be much different if you were moving down .

Good to know as I'm still waiting for my NZ MEL-AKL flight to post (AKL-MEL posted 2 days after I flew) which would give me exactly the number of SC's I need to requal as SG. My review date is 2 weeks after the flight date and the VFF website keeps telling me that I need to wait 2 weeks to put in a retro claim. The biggest worry I have is that I used my OZ FF# when booking and the Toll DNATA employees at MEL didn't seem to understand how to change the FF# to my VFF#.

Just checking, is the Sydney and Melbourne lounge open on Christmas day as we are definitely doing a sector run Christmas and Boxing day. Decided we are going to fly Syd>Melb>Hobart>return.

Because we can.

Curious newbie here,

If I was to try to get the 250 Status Credits to upgrade to Silver, is it possible to do it in say 1 or two days? And what would be the best way to earn the SC's - I'd assume a MEL-PER flight would be pretty worthwhile to bring those credits up?

Flexis brother! And try positioning to OOl or CNS to begin a run to Perth, 5 months ago CNS - SYD - PER was cheaper than SYD - per direct
