I am considering downloading this e book publication, The Ultimate Guide to Credit Card Rewards.

Is the publication "up to date"? It seems of late, the use of BPAY (end of month payment)with several cards, will no longer will be allowed from March as an eligible payment. I wondered if the guide addressed this and:
  • Provided a list of cards that do allow BPAY and still qualify for FF points.
  • Provided a method of paying the card off each month, that still qualifies for FF points..e.g.. direct payment though bank transfer, or use the post office etc.

Up until now, making monthly payments via BPAY as resulted in over 600,000 FF points,so managing to pay my monthly card and still earn FF Points is a useful pursuit.

Hi por930,

Thanks for the question. "The Ultimate Guide to Credit Card Rewards" focuses primarily on credit cards reward programs, redeeming and transferring points for maximum value, how to choose a credit card and sign-up bonuses. Almost all of the information remains up-to-date.

It's designed as a useful starting point for somebody that perhaps isn't yet familiar with the world of credit cards. The guide does also feature some more advanced tips and tricks, but unfortunately it does not specifically cover the ability to earn points by paying the card off using BPay.

If you're interested, you can see a full summary of what is included by downloading the executive summary and table of contents for free HERE.

Hi,
Thanks for your comments. I did see the information in the link you provided earlier, which I why I asked the question as I saw no reference to end of month payments.... BPAY. From looking at other forums, I see QFF members questioning the value of chasing points now that the BPAY option seems to be disappearing. Of course, if during the course of your employment, your employer pays for your travel, then earning points is far simpler. If, as in my case, you are retired, points are not so easy(cheap!) to come by. This year I have been too busy for many flights, so my points have been gained in:
1. BPAY - 90%
2. Flights
3. QFF approved purchases

For my international travel in June and September, one flight is via points, and for my purchased flights, it is far cheaper to fly JAL than QF, EK, or AA. So, if I lose the ability to earn points via my end of month payment, then I may cease to be a points gatherer and simply rely on class of travel(which in our case is J or F). By using certain oneworld alliance members, I still accrue QFF points and status credits, but at a lessor rate, but the high cost per Qantas ticket means chasing their points and status credits is too expensive. I have life membership of Qantas Club, so for my domestic Y legs, I have lounge access.

Anyway, I am sure for your members who accrue points via employment, your guide will be a treasure trove of information.
