Yep Sydney is Sydney, overrepresented with completely self-centred A-holes who have zero consideration for anyone else. It is the minority that wreck Sydney for everyone.

And this minority does not exist anywhere else?

I have lived in Sydney for 41 years and Brisbane for 5+ years. No one in their right mind should even try to compare Brisbane to Sydney unles you did not know any better. Brisbane is a dump. From people, to houses, to weather, to entertainment, to culture. Everything. It is a dump.

I know all parts of Sydney are not perfect but it is a great city to live in.

And yes my opinion does not count.

Yet net migration from Sydney to Brisbane has been far greater than the opposite for the last 20 years, as someone who is Sydney born and bred I don't understand it ;)

Maybe google the definition of "over represented".

You are constantly trying to compare Brisbane to Sydney and have done this again here. What are you trying to tell us about your state of mind?

Half of my family are from Brisbane; I reckon they're pretty alright

Totally agree with you markis10 moved in Jan 1992, after three years knew I wanted to live in BNE and bought my home. Having said that I still love SYD the rest of my family live there and have left my options open should I wish to return. The thing I have never missed about SYD is the traffic.

Did try MEL (a great city had friends there) for a year but knew it wasn't for me.

I'd love to live in Melbourne - it has so much going for it, as long as you lived near a tram station. I even like the weather!

Oh and they're called tram stops or train stations. ;) Whatever it does help to be close to at least one of them.

Lonely Planet just killed its reputation by naming Adelaide in the top ten cities to visit. Along with Paris and Shanghai etc. and no Sydney nor Melbourne. I live here but that is simply wrong.

They might be onto something if you mean get out of the city of Adelaide, i.e. go driving around visiting the hills, vineyards, Kangaroo Island and the like.

You could easily lose yourself in the beauty of the surrounds. Adelaide itself ain't got too much, even at Glenelg.

There is a vast difference between visiting somewhere and living there.

This.

For one thing, you don't put up with or hear about all the day-to-day social problems as a tourist, e.g. crime.

Whilst we are talking (again) about better cities etc., I think many people also have a "grass greener" thing; i.e. wherever you are born, you'd like to try living somewhere else and you at least start to enjoy it because it is very different. I know I felt partly like that when I took a 3 month contract in Perth. But high house prices and rampant, unmitigated crime in the inner city ring have somewhat dulled my interest in living in Perth.

What can I say? People are easily fooled?

I used to believe the saying "Queensland! Beautiful one day, perfect the next!". Then I visited here a number of times in 2004 and knew that it was totally wrong. So when I decided to work here in 2008 I made sure that I leave no roots in this place and an easy passage out when I am done.

Rant of the day...

Why do the FAs in QF J insist on asking if you would "like any bakery?". Since they all do it, I assume it's part of the spiel but I really would like to throw a dictionary at them each time they use that word.

Maybe google the definition of "over represented".
Means the same thing it meant last time I looked in dictionary.

My state of mind? It is perfectly fine but thanks for caring.

Another who was born and bred in Sydney. Also moved to QLD in January 1992.Wouldn't go back to live in Sydney.Far too busy.
Just fantastic sitting out on our patio at night, wine in hand watching the sun going down.
Out on the golf course at 0500 communing with nature-the kangaroos, black coughatoos and my friend the willie wagtail.
I reckon it's perfect.
But I can understand that not everyone is like me.And to that my wife would say-thank god.;)

I believe it's just an off-hand slang and short for "bakery items".

Indeed, I started referring to it as "bakery" (e.g. bakery course, or warm bakery) before I ever noticed FAs of any airline referring to it as such. Probably because if you read many J or F menus, if they print the selection it is referred to as "bakery" or "from the bakery".

In fact, I haven't heard an FA refer to it as "bakery" for a while; they usually just ask would you like this bread or that bread whilst presenting the tray.

I've had NZ J FAs also refer to these items as "bakery" (and I won't crack any Kiwi accent jokes here ;) )

I'm sure there isn't a FA who is offering anyone a small business that runs 24 hours a day with your lunch.

If you know what it means then you must realise that saying a type of person is over represented in Sydney does not mean those people only exist in Sydney. As such you previous comment, while true, was irrelevant to the point.

You're the one who said anyone who tries to compare Brisbane with Sydney is out of their mind. Your constant compares of Brisbane with Sydney suggest you think you're out of your mind. I just wondered if you meant to reveal such personal information.
