Just tried to use the shave pack that DJ give out. That was a mistake, it didn't cope at all with 4 day's growth.

I hope you did not pay! Either that or the photo is not doing it justice....

Sure did - $57 per adult, the only waste was the $29 for my 5yo who had 3 pieces of sushi and a bowl of ice cream.
It was a delightful buffet, and I didn't take pics of all of my plates/courses, just the sashimi and dessert. It was a full brunch buffet, including whole roast turkey, suckling pig, roast side of beef, sashimi, sushi, omelettes to order (incl. salmon), egge benedict, fish and chicken dishes in bain maries, bascon, sausages, veges, salads, sashimi, sushi, blintzes fruit, pastries, cakes, ice cream with topping .... all accompanied by a piano player.
Didn't need to eat again until dinner, and even then it was only a light snack.

If any gentleman from this forum attends, be warned that collared shirts are required. Aloha shirts were being given to gents in T-shirts to wear over the top. There didn't seem to be alternate footwear for the women who had not heeded the "no slippers" (thongs/jandals) rule.

Anyone notice Brisbane awfully quiet today. Yesterday was fine. Is everyone sick or do business travellers really make up that much of the CBD workforce?

Classic sickie running into a public holiday - made Australia what it is today!

Sad afternoon.

A three year old girl was hit by a car and died outside one of our buildings in Ultimo today. I cross the intersection just about every day, and was only there an hour before it happened before heading back to my office in Alexandria.

Child hit by car was running back to get her hat

That's our building in the photo with the two prams :(

Our company has a policy where if you have a sick day before and/or after a public holiday you need to produce a doctors certificate.

Now I have taken more than my fair share of "sick" days in my life but there are times, such as anxiety or panic attacks, back pain, where I cannot go to work but will not waste my time seeing a doctor as there is nothing they can do. :(

Oh well. I guess it is the same as car insurance. The last time anyone in our family claimed was in 1999 when my brother and I were invloved in separate not-at-fault accidents. So that is 3 drivers with no claims in more than 15 years and we are almost treated the same as the person who claims once a year. Yes I know we get a discount for good history but that does not make up for the hefty premium increases thanks to the morons that should never, ever, get behind the wheel of a car....

Or there is the situation where you are so sick you can't get out of bed and/or the house.

I was pretty happy with my recent car accident experience. Not at fault, first accident since 1993 (that was also not at fault). They declared that I don't have to pay the excess over the phone based solely on my description of the accident. No forms, not justification no nothing. One advantage of being a "good" driver.

Ewing,:(
What an awful, tragic story, one can only imagine what the poor mother is going through at the moment.
Another reminder of how life can change in an instant.
Awful.

As someone who regularly deals with tragic events at work I can only say that it's never easy to cope with childhood death, even from afar.
Thoughts and prayers to the little girl's family and the driver who probably had no chance to avoid her.

I have no interest in the match but if I were a Perth Glory supporter I would be extremely disappointed with the refereeing decisions late in the match. How anyone can see a trip and award a penalty when there was clearly no contact is beyond my comprehension. I would call him a moron but then people are going to say I am harsh.

I wouldn't call you harsh. Big pat on the back to the players, they left nothing to spare. The same to my fellow fans. The relatively small number of us comprehensively outsung Brisbane.

Flight home from Brisbane was long. I still feel cheated. These things happen in life...next season is ours.

If you’re supporting Melbourne next season, sure (or wherever Brisbane’s former coach is heading).

As for the match, I saw some commentary on it. Supposedly the ref was right to award the penalty despite no contact, but I didn’t catch why. I assume this was because the Perth player didn’t look to be playing the ball, despite completely missing the player too. I just think Football needs a big shakeup for things like this. You take a dive, even if the ref awards it, after the match it should be reviewed and you should be suspended for a minimum number of games and have some pay docked. It’s just silly.

I see virgin are advertising their new ife...

Were you on the chartered plane? Im surprised the couple of hundred Perth fans staying at the novotel didn't tear it apart after that decision...

I think Virgin left a bundle of Perth Glory fans in Melboune on the return to Perth. Basically the plane left 2 hours late from Brisbane and no one held the Melbourne To Perth flight.
That lack of thinking is something that Virgin need to fix and I am wondering why they didn't hold the plane for a few minutes as bad news travels hundreds of times faster than good news.

This is why I don't like taking time off work...... 2 days back now and already feeling drained! Going to have to build back up into the groove! :(

But that one moment wasn't the whole match. After all the Roar scored all the goals! The match stats certainly were very much in the Roar's favour.
