Similarly I had a work colleague who couldn't drink any alcohol. They drank way too much alcohol when they were younger, the problem wasn't so much the liver just that the rest of the body couldn't handle the alcohol.
I had a similar situation growing up.

I got drunk on beer as a 12 year old and could not drink for around 12-24 months.

During that time I was drinking scotch until I overdid on that one time. So back to beer.

The interesting one was as a 17-18 year old I had 2 bottles of invalid port one night. Not a good idea. I really cannot tolerate any form of wine and it has only been recently that I have started drinking champagne and wine again but only in moderation as I still do not like the taste.

Today's 'targetted' gmail advertising to me:

Fly first class from Launceston. Hmmm, I think - I'd like to see that!

Turns out its an ad for Emirates, so for the sake of curiosity I search Launceston-DXB in first. Lo and behold:

The official IAAF distance for a marathon is 42.195 km, and while this is a conversion from imperial measurements, I doubt that the marathon at the Olympics is measured using imperial-based equipment, as seemed to be implied by the author of the article. Especially since the IAAF only recognises measurements made using the metric system.

I dunno. In the first para. the author states as a matter-of-fact:

"At the Summer Olympics, the marathon will be the only foot race measured by the standard instead of the metric system." But I don't really care, to be frank. I enjoyed the trivia in the rest of the article. And the pictures. I wondered about the winner's footwear, 104 years ago.

There was a plane passing overhead Geelong yesterday late morning at high altitude (with contrail). Any guesses what that was (....paging Markis10..... to the white courtesy phone......)
I did not realise that you had already moved down to Melbourne. Last I remember was you talking about moving back.

Had to go to a wedding at St Pats in Melbourne today. Horrendous traffic after the ceremony. I think it was all the Carlton supporters leaving early.

I have no interest in the match but if I were a Perth Glory supporter I would be extremely disappointed with the refereeing decisions late in the match. How anyone can see a trip and award a penalty when there was clearly no contact is beyond my comprehension. I would call him a moron but then people are going to say I am harsh.

I think we are getting close to the time where every single sport needs to have instant video review.

And I know St Kilda played poorly on Friday night but they were not given a chance to compete in the second half thanks to the umpiring decisions going against them. In one passage of play St Kilda is attacking and Nick Riewoldt is taken down in the marking contest and in the next passage Fremantle scores a goal. A possible 12 point turnaround which should not happen when there are so many umpires on field. If these umpires are supposed to be professional they are certainly not showing it. Fundamental errors that blind Freddy can see....

I feel exactly the same way about the refereeing that the QLD Reds got on Friday night.

Michael Lynagh & stroke...two words that I never thought would be used together - unbelievable.

Awesome Uni, QLD & Australian, man.

Surely you mean David campese.

Not really, he was tidy but not in Lynagh's league. I clearly remember seeing him there with the long sleeves neatly rolled up and taped away during the national anthem, when the other players had just hacked them off seemingly in the dark after a long night on the booze, including possibly Campo. Lynagh also usually left the pitch in the same neat and tidy condition.

Besides he is a Queenslander! ;)

Just got back after going for a fly around Moorabbin, heard somebody on the radio advise of a group of naked sky divers.

Hmmmmmm.
