I have been fortunate enough to not be landed with a predisposition to excessive drinking.

Other vices, not so lucky..

I used to travel with a chap for work, often we would get adjacent hotel rooms. I remember once at the Como in Melb, he drank his entire mini bar and was then knocking on my door to raid mine!

I think a low point was when he finished the second half of a bottle of red, from the night before. "Well I have to pay for it, I may as well drink it.." - this was before breakfast.

Best Wishes, JohnK

Much better control the last couple of days and I feel much better although tired from all the flights.

Need to stay on beer (and nurse it for a while) and stay away from quick and evil drinks like vodka and orange....

I have to admit that the Advintka vodka specially distilled for Virgin Atlantic is really good. Very smooth, no burning sensation and good taste (other vodkas you might as well drink something like turpentine or lighter fluid). On the flight I had it both straight up as well as mixed with cranberry juice (the latter apparently a VS signature drink).

Whether or not excessive consumption of that packs a whollop all the same is something else, since I only had two drinks on that flight before retiring to bed.

My rule of thumb is to stick to the Bubbles (beer and Champagne/Sparkling wine)

Still, I find it hard not to request a "Dewars" with a side of club soda on ice when travelling in AA first. I guess it's because I can ... and I like dewars ...

We went shopping today and thinking that I've got a few flights to the US this year (God forbid the TSA and DHS ), I bought a couple of TSA-compliant padlocks.

Am I a sucker?

Ah so you are going to the USA in 2010; yes I also brought a new carrier on size bag.

Did MEL-CBR today after doing the family stuff for another year and noticed a spelling mistake on the boarding pass I printed after doing OLCI.

Seating-we cannot gurantee (sic) any particular seat...

How can a spelling mistake of that magnitude pass by anybody who is meant to check these things? :?:

The people who are meant to check these things offer no gurantee that they can catch all mistakes. :p

First day of the status run is almost over. Sitting in the TPE CX First Class Lounge on standy for one of the 3 earlier flights to HKG hoping I can get on an earlier flight to HKG. I decided to be a wimp and booked the Stanford at Kowloon for the night. Cost HKD660 or ~AUD97 with exchange fluctuations + shuttle or airport express costs.

The problem is I can easily have half a bottle of vodka on a flight and then with the wine and beer it goes over the top.

I would be surprised if English was their first language. Am I allowed to say that?

Could be that the letters got jumbled on the way to your printer

Had fun at the transfer desk at MNL airport 2 days in a row. They are still scratching their heads wondering what I am doing going HKG-MNL-HKG and not staying in MNL visiting.

  • Yesterday I told them I was on a status run. That did not go down too well.
  • Today I told them that I like the 747 and the lady mentioned that my final destination must be TPE. No idea how she knew but they must be keeping track of me.
Now need to think of another excuse for Sunday.

Maybe customs are keeping an eye on you?
