So they slowed down the footage and the ball didn’t seem to move as it went past the edge of the bat. The mic in the wicket didn’t register a noise, as happens often when the ball flies past, or the bat hits pads. And the hot spot technology showed nothing glowing anywhere on the bat, and the bat turned as he played the shot, so you’d see a hot spot if he’d hit it.

I don’t understand how those 3 things don’t disprove the on-field decision. But it was Billy, and he’s always making decisions in favour of Australia. :p
And I humbly take some of the credit for that.As the 4th umpire in the World cup final he was right beside us.We all got along famously especially when we asked him to show us the finger. He did comment on how friendly the Aussies were.;)

Well, I made it up to Derby and back. Had some absolute pearler rain storms on the way up and back, funnily enough as I got close to each town.

I stopped in to get fuel (having about a 200km range left on the tank, knowing Broome was only 165 away) only to find out they had no fuel, and haven't for 3 days due to some electrical issues! Anyway, managed to make it to a service station in Roebuck and topped up there, not with the AMEX though "sorry we don't accept AMEX!"; so whacked out the trusty Visa.

All I need now is for my flight home to be on time, and all up a good last minute business trip

Not too bad. Now all you have left to do is to sink some cold ones and wait for your flight.

The beauty about the "Kimberley Lounge" is it's self serve

Pity it's a pincode on the door, so I have to go via check-in to get it even though I'm carry-on only.....

Been stuck on the couch all weekend due to some kind of back 'twinge'.. Went to a Xmas party on Fri night and stupid me carries a gift basket out in front of me, all the way home.

I know you're not supposed to carry things out front of you but that was the only handles it had.

I managed to get dressed and was about to go down the bank - got to the front door and keeled me over, down onto the floor again.

It's really, really frustrating - anyone who has this kind of thing on a permanent basis really has my sympathy.

I'm just hoping it goes away in a couple of days, don't what I'm going to do about work tomorrow. It will look very dodgy having sick leave just on the Christmas break!

I can almost feel the pain you are in. Go to the chemist and they may suggest Voltaren 25 for the muscle spasm in your back. Listen to any advice given esp.about taking it after food. It always worked for me.
Hope you feel better soon.

Could not believe the outcome of the test match. If you’re going to let teams challenge the umpires, then when a batsman clearly didn’t hit the ball, through all the technology provided for challenges, it shouldn’t be out!
I don't understand why they are bothering with the challenge system. I agree that it was not out but the decision on the field should be the final decision.

Gee....can't believe that the West Indies lost that one. Unbelievable - are we the country of flukes?
I truly believe that the West Indies should have won the last 2 tests. I also believe Australia has been extremely lucky and they will do well to hang on to their #4 test ranking. Pakistan and New Zealand should be more of a challenge than the West Indies.

Test match, what test match?Too busy watching Concorde 79 on 7/2.Wow what pilots-outmanouevred an armed drone, dodged 4 missiles, pulled out of dive at last second and landed without brakes.:shock:Then next sector survive an explosive decompression and landed it on a ski run in the Alps! How true to life.

drron,

I also was highly entertained by 7TWO this afternoon while stuck in a house without foxtel.

The flying was spoton :shock:the last minute pull up before hitting the ocean was breathtaking and the landing brilliant;)

The realism of the film was overwhelming:p

What was wrong with video ref I don’t know, but sometimes Bowden and a couple other umpires are a bit over zealous with their (crooked) fingers. He’s certainly had a fair bit of controversy surround him, and the “elite” panel he serves on hasn’t always done the right thing either. :p

Perhaps the teams suggested the challenge system because they were fed-up with the inconsistencies. It does seem a little overkill though. Has any other sport got a challenge system?

Has any other sport got a challenge system?

Tennis springs to mind (for line calls), but no others.

There are other sports where decisions are (or were, not sure if their referral systems are still in operation) referred to video, though these are not 'challenges' but merely umpires/referees going to the video where uncertain of the facts. Rugby League and NFL I think are/were two that do/did this.

If anyone has ever wondered how safe Ferraris are in an accident then have a look at the photo of this one that crashed in Singapore, the driver suffered only minor injuries.
Driver almost unhurt
Geez I hope he had insurance.

GBP 775 to me doesn't sound that cheap, as you need to add accom. :-|

Not cheap IMO but then again this sounds like "last minute" style booking / fares. But this is a peak period for travel, so not totally unexpected.

I think I have about 3 people I am trying to convince they should go to Sin Do 2010,

I think you know my situation by now.

Now that I am home; my next trip planning is to the NYC in June 2010 for FT BRT 10.

Aaaah...the life of a frequent traveller never stops to rest. It's either travelling, planning for travel, or both at the same time! :)

My credit card is still in a state of shock from Europe and NZ (Europe is work but I am still really paying for it)

Mum would rather poke my eyes out than have me carry a balance on my credit card and pay interest on top of it.

So now I still have the same liabilities as before but this time my debt is to Mum. :-|
