Nov 5th does NOT have to be consigned to PC history after all.

Just remember - your eyesight and reaction time may not be as good as the last time you were letting off fireworks!

People still have an anti-catholic party?

Anyway because of fireworks a friend in Europe lost 4 of his 5 digits on his left hand.

Seems these days people lose their inhibitions too quick. And ready to let others in, in their personal lives. And have little regard for others' wants to have peace and quiet. Worry state.
The bus trip from Varsity Lakes to OOL airport was worse. This guy was playing rap music (or similar filth) on his phone quite loud, then had a personal conversation for 10-15 minutes with constant use of swear words and then back to the rap music.

Society just gets lower and lower by the minute.

Annoying and irritating

Get into the gym and do some type of martial arts. People tend to listen to you if they think your a threat.

I assume because of the battery?

Yes - took it to AusPost and almost had it accepted... but got vetoed at the customs declaration, as it was a tablet. The battery of which is considered a dangerous good, apparently.

That's why I avoid public transport.

Lol so an increase and broadening of the GST will raise as much as the Carbon tax but hit households 3 times as much.

Had to smile this arvo when the Greens spokes-person talking about this on the news tonight was also calling it a "carbon tax". :D

But hey, the 'carbon tax' looks like it was more fair then a GST hike. Gotta keep those well off happy.

Taxis can get quite expensive.

Yes they can. Mind you a certain AFF'r in Sydney a few days ago gave Mrs GPH and I a good tip on the bus between domestic and international :). Thank you

Must have been. The financial review analysis was that it netted $6.6 billion in its first year and $7.2 billion net in its second year

I have no fundamental issue with a "broad bare" consumption tax. What I do object to is having two sets of governments levying taxes and charges when there was a promise not to.

Perhaps, JohnK, its time you got yourself some headphones and zoned out from all that troubles you.

And get this. The Stamp duty tax on home purchases is paid (obviously) on purchase. Then because our state is bereft of money and home sales were falling (and they had pretty much spent the money they had 'estimated' they would get from this tax - but were now not going to get) our state Govt wanted to levy an ongoing stamp duty tax on every home! Double dip much when you'd already paid around $20k - for a freakin stamp? The treasurer did eventually say it would apply to new homes only and the existing would be scrapped but I wonder if that was the real plan.
