Well erkpod and Jessica we originally tried an honour system with drinks in a fridge in a lunchroom about twenty years ago.
Getting the push button drink dispenser has worked well for years now. We don't do the caffeine overcharged drinks....just the normal soft drink cans....
On CBA I took up the $71.50 deal and many won't do the one for 23 take up. If the stock price drops to $60 or $65 then there will be lots of retirement money lost.
We do the honour system in the staff room and it works reasonably well - I think. Where did you get the dispenser from?

There are quite a few places in the yellow pages that do re-sales. Ours was acquired a long time ago.
One thing you could consider would be a chocolate and drink dispenser in one machine.....

CBA closed tonight at $71.97 so i cancelled my scheduled payment tomorrow (I suspect I can buy it, if I want to, at a lower price at some stage given the direction of the market...I'm also thinking about cancelling my ANZ order as well :(...in fact, i just have cancelled that as well!

We used to do the honour system. The fridge was in the room where we sign on & where we have our correspondance folders etc.

But recently we've moved into a new building on the same site so various people thought they'd get the social club up & running again.

Due to the new building layout, the old white courtesy fridge situation won't work.

So we've been looking at several ways to fund the machine, especially being a new social club.

A couple of members like this style (probably because of the price of the unit) but it is limited in range of products.

For about the same cost as that one on eBay, I can get a more traditional
looking drink machine for about the same price.

I "retired"just before my 60th birthday and here I am 8 years later still working.
But I enjoy it.
Many seem to appreciate my continuing working.
And I love the travel that it enables.
So still no date for my second retirement.

Two days a week at the office has been going ok. We will be traveling a bit more before we get too old. It is good to hear drron is working on and travelling.

Re: Who says share markets ALWAYS make money over long time periods?

Oh JohnK, you know many of us here think golf is boring too and since when did you listen to us?

No. I have done both and I know which I prefer doing the most.

Shopping is boring. Of that I have no doubt. The only people who think golf is boring are those that have no idea how to play the game.
I am good at both golf and shopping and still think they are both boring :!:

Re: The Big Island

Did you know the 2nd biggest ranch in all of the US is on the Big Island?

Where'd you hear that?

Not being an a-hole, just interested as to how they came to that conclusion because there are many ranches bigger than Parker (250,000ac).

King Ranch (825,000ac), Waggoner Ranch (520,000ac) and Vermejo Park (590,000ac) are the three biggest and there's a number of others over the 250 mark.

Maybe they were talking about stocking density? Because even as contiguous land, the above would still come out on top.

You've got me intrigued now.

Either way... Anna Creek still wins the heavy weight belt at 6,000,000 acres.

And King Ranch wouldn't even make the top 50 largest stations in Australia in terms of land area

I now have the keys to the new office, moving about 2 kms in the next few weeks, the big clean up starts now as we are moving into a small office/warehouse.
One friend suggested you have paid the money got the keys and now I can move onto the next crisis.

Now we need to change all our stationery (stationery) as in paper, I had to check the spelling and a whole bunch of other things.

blasphemy on this forum :)

I love flying, and make many life choices that help that, but some days I just hate it. Years ago I learnt the short-haul decorum of not reclining. That has progressed to not even bothering to ask for a coffee. (seriously, on a sub-hour flight is that necessary?). But the day I retire I want to be able to fly. Just that I want it to be for pure enjoyment. I admire the retired people on this forum who have managed to get there. :)

Why, thank you, thank you, thank you ;):p.

I intend to retire by 60 even if I have to live on Spam and cask wine , longevity is not in my gene pool.

Cask wine is a step too far . That could lead to a premature death!

I'm trying to make lifestyle behaviour (which in itself means travel is important ;)) beat any genetic limitations - and I'm determined to outlive my former wife  - although, mind you, one of the key reasons I'm in a fortunate position is because I no longer have a wife :D.

Even though I'm retired, I still dabble in some work at 65 - but it is not scheduled and it must fit around travel.

Um CBA HIT $71.26 before climbing again..... Still up due to saving buy fee ;)

Has anyone had any experience with getting a drink machine for their Place Of Employment?

Ten years ago but I guess not much has changed. I guess you're talking coin-operated.

They're expensive to buy but Coke will supply one free of charge (or a nominal rental) provided you buy from Coke - and that's more expensive than buying non-Coke products from an independent vendor.

As it happens we had the key to this Coke machine and bought non-Coke products cheaply to stock it. Coke kicked up a fuss and threatened to take the machine but we stuck to our guns and got away with it.

With a new machine you won't have that option because you won't have the key to re-stock it.

I imagine Cadbury-Schweppes also supply machines.

I tried to find a second-hand one so we could tell Coke to shove it but secondhand were expensive and scarce. I gather it's' a closed market.
