To be fair with Rockpool, I have seen some great reviews but some equally horrid reviews.

The last time we went to the Perth RP, our waitress was fantastic and clearly an asset, yet the waiter on the next table was quite rude (he responded when asked if the steak looked medium rare with I wouldn't have a clue, I am not the chef), and it took our waitress to save the day.

To be fair, the NP J food can be underwhelming (the burrito is average for one).

Yes the review is harsh but there are some elements of truth to it.

A bit over the top though.Kept harping on the size of the menu.
But I was always a Hey,hey fan so I presume Rockpoolo Perth would be enjoyable for me.

I keep hearing rumours that JohnK is going for 2000000 points. Haven't seen the post myself. I worry that this doesn't seem like a prudent goal. Given the devalued earning announced a couple of weeks ago and the need to align the redemption table with the new earning table. I suspect there will be a significant price increase in the next 6 to 12 months. Haven't AA recently stopped OW around the the awards. I imagine there is a pretty big risk Qantas would get rid of those awards as well. Seems like a pretty big risk that points will be devalued rather soon.

Rockpool Bar & Grill is no Rockpool.

Never been to a real rock pool, but the bar and grill I thought was ok. Nothing special but decent serves for the price and food was as expected. In fact, compared to some restaurants in Perth it was pretty good value.

I have been to Rockpool on George (when it was there) and the Bar and Grill in Sydney and Melbourne numerous times. I'm going back to the Crown Rockpool in a few weeks. All three are fantastic restaurants IMO. I prefer the informality of the Melbourne venue, the wait staff are understated but superb and I love the stroll along Southbank afterwards towards HSW.

Been to a Rockpool Bar and Grill.

Food was OK. Didn't leave a lasting impression. No desire to go back again anytime soon.

Got a birthday treat coming up for SWMBO in a couple of weeks. A real AFF affair! MASA flights, 2 night stay at the ParK Hyatt (points), lunch at Quay and dinner at the new Rockpool at Bridge Street. First time at Bridge Street, been quite a few times at the old address. Rockpool is exceptional and I'm sure the new oven will be even better!

Sydney has always been great for us but we found Melbourne to be too weird re staff. Decent prices, and happy to pay, but staff totally up themselves both times we tried it.

Not taking sides in politics but this is a joke.

"It was later revealed the 10-day trip racked up $67,673 on airfares, $8914 on hotels and meals and $4634 on ground transport for Mr Combet to attend meetings and a climate conference."

That is a joke. First class airfares and first class hotels. Why do they need to squander taxpayers money in such a way? Because they can?

So doing a final clean of the office yesterday and came across some Qantas Club Members Guest Pass
... However there is no expiry or hologram like the ones I've had before with credit cards etc

Does anyone know if they're valid? I would say they're from 2006/7...

Yeah you're not taking sides. How many people? Meetings suggests there'd have to be at least some Ministerial staff as well.

Interesting how people claim to be interesting in government waste by picking on politically motivated things like this but ignore real waste in government. Paid parental scheme in the new age of non-entitlement?

No doubt it isn't a waste of taxpayer money to fly from Perth to cairns with your wife to settle an investment property.

Hopefully when the age pension etc are looked at, perhaps the generous pollie pensions will be examined too and reported in similar newspapers.
