You remember the license plate though… (possibly) giving a bogus address is one thing, driving around with fake or stolen plates is another thing entirely.

I hope you get your money back!

Yep, first thing I did was crack out the iPhone and photo of him, his car, the damage to his car, his number plates, my car, the damage to my car, and me ; just for good measure! :p

Well done Flashware. Got to love technology sometimes. Plus you forgot to say a photo of his Chinese licence...

Oh yes, that too! The independent assessor can't get out to the repair place to do an external assessment till March 10. Bugger!

Sorry to hear the news Flashware.

It's ridiculous how one has to cough up a payment when clearly it's another idiot (the underlined word is used extremely lightly and being very polite) who is completely at fault.
If one is insured with NRMA and can identify the other driver then no need to pay the excess.

It has happened to my brother and I a number of times. I remember one time my brother was in an accident (not his fault) with an uninsured driver and the other guy said how about we pay to fix our own car's. Yeah right. The damage to my brother's car was well over $5,000. NRMA had to take the other driver to court to recover the money and we did not need to pay the excess.

Funny how the water grid is not getting too much of a mention, thats right, they still have no way of diverting the overflow from North Pine to Somerset which would then flow into Wivenhoe

Funny how Anna and the Water Commission blatently call Wivenhoe a "DAM", it was built as a flood drainage area to protect Brissy from being hit again by Joe and his Nats back in the 70s. But then Anna is going to pipe our Sushine Coast water to Brisbane, even though the ratepayers of the then Marochy/Caloundra Councils paid a levy for building our new dam at Baroon Pocket on the Range..........

Cheers Dee

Cool, thanks JohnK. Will have to look into it. My first ever accident since I've been driving! (8 years now).

I'm not all that far from Mark, and they were the biggest I've ever seen (allowing for the fact that we do not usually get large hailstones in MEL)...I'd say the biggest here that I saw were maybe 2/3 to 3/4 the size of a golf ball.

Very noisy indeed...I had to employ the umbrella to get to the car to move it under cover...yet to check but I don't think any damage was done.

Well good news for a change.

Dad managed to diagnose our fridge and located the faulty part. It was ordered earlier this week, picked up by sister on Thursday, fitted this morning and our fridge is working A-OK again.

Just moved all the food from the rental fridges to the fixed fridge, with the usual culling of "stuff you never knew was in the fridge" and "stuff you never wanted to know was in the fridge". Mostly by-products of Mum being obsessed with stocking up and saving little things (like cake from work functions).

The part cost $120 but in all it was:
  • Less stressful than finding a repairer (Dad called 3 of them and all no-showed)
  • Probably cheaper than finding a repairer and getting them to fix it (viz. excess on the policy)
  • Definitely cheaper than buying a new fridge, because apart from that part, nothing else was wrong with our old fridge
  • Cheaper and faster as it means that we can return the rental fridges now (our rental term was due to expire on Monday - and boy would Mum kill us if we had to rent for another month)

Just ventured out into the garden (and looks like I have some work to do later - lots of cough strewn across the driveway), and some of the stones are up to 3 cm in size. most around a cm though.

Sounds like some flocks of birds are trying to regroup outside....
