My husband prefers the diet Bundy ginger beer. We went to the Bundy factory a couple of years ago and he got to taste quite a few of their brews. He also likes the blood orange they come out with occasionally.

If you can't peel it, wash it with clean water, or cook it, dont eat it.
It's all very well if you have the option. Over 15 years I was routinely sent by my company to countries where that was the advice. But when you have to work with local staff and customers which includes having lunches and dinners with them as well as social manners and customs, most of that advice goes out the window by the end of the first day.

In Vung Tau last year they were offering cans of beer for $US1 and with free wifi. Being off a ship with appalling internet this sounded a good deal until the warm beers arrived accompanied by a plastic cup of ice. Needless to say I got to drink 2 warm beers. Seems the message got through as this year when we went through there the beer was cold so they sold a lot more.
The beer in Thailand is not cold enough even when it's kept in fridge. I drink my beer in a glass/cup with ice. I don't ask where they get their ice but most ice is quite safe.

Given the exciting news this morning - I just did the test. Bugger me! Barnaby, it's not that hard to check!

Might think about filling in the form.... will come in handy during rugby season :D

A real first world problem here.

My new $9 Big W toaster is too quiet! I have it in the kitchen and sit in the lounge room waiting to hear it pop up. Because it is so quiet I don't hear it and when I remember I've put it on the toast is cold.

Even worse if I'm poaching eggs because the toast cooking time is the same time required for soft runny eggs.

I really don't have any problems do I?

Can't you get one that send an email and alert to your iPhone when the toast is ready? :)

And for your eggs - just can't go past these! Bought one at 'Eataly' in Turin years ago. Works brilliantly.

After the tirade and crowing from some Libs (including the AG) over the Greens, he has no option but to resign from cabinet and actually follow the greens and resign from parliament.

It's becoming great theater! Do we have to start reproducing everything Barnaby says in kiwi speak now? "The mimber for Nue Inglund, Bro, Beached As!"

Tony Windsor will be laughing all the way to the polls.

I wonder if the Liberal's are feeling sheepish yet?

(Ewe knew it had to be said.)

Isn't there a pill now you can take before meals to protect against gastro?

There is! (supposedly).

Travelan. Available at pharmacies, but Chemist Warehouse (in Vic) is cheaper by about $10 over other places.

Take one tablet before eating. Also helps if you do get an upset (seems to make it go away pretty quick).

Ate all the way through India without a second thought on a couple of trips and either I managed to eat all the right things, or the tablets worked.

The only problem is coming off them. For a day after your tummy needs to get used to normal bacteria again.

One thing someone taught me years ago in Thailand: Always do the "round-ice-with-the-hole-in-it" check. It means the ice has been made in a factory, not someones freezer, and is safe. Never gone wrong for me (yet).

It would be worth pointing out it (has been "proven" to) work only on toxigenic E.coli which is a reasonable % of "travellers diarrhoea" (ie. low grade self-limiting diarrhoea), but there are plenty of other causes of food-bourne illness for which it offers no protection. The trial was also done under "lab conditions" with controlled exposure amounts / variants versus the random exposure (small or large, one-off or repeated).

It can be used as an adjunct to usual food safety measures, but is not a fail safe protection from food-bourne illness (mind you, neither is "being careful" of food hygiene - that often fails too!).

Isn't there a pill now you can take before meals to protect against gastro?

A number of years ago, prior to a few months backpacking in India, a wise old Doctor colleague of mine advised me " young man, drink a large tumbler of Scotch with every meal, that'll kill the bugs"

Happily for for my liver, I didn't follow his advice.

That appears to be the popular option.

I still get sick but with throat infections not with gastro.

Why does REX have J seat prices when their entire plane is Y. You get an empty seat?

Thinking Coober Pedy for next year. Never been there before.

Edit: Hmmm. Dummy booking for 2 people paying "J" and we get seated together. So what do you get for double the price but the same seat?
REX is something of a law unto themselves. :) When I used to book clients onto them for work, it was always a very convoluted process to acquit the travel in the system as you had to go to the REX site to get the documents and look in a few odd places to find them.

Fair 'nuf, have a laugh, but remember the old saying "don't laugh too soon". ;)

And follow the Greens??? WHAT!? On anything? :D Watch Four Corners tonight for a lesson on the Greens. And when the ABC starts poking at the watermelons, ya know its got to be dire.

Bloody hell Amaroo ! there are enuf new Zealanders here already !!!

I know! I'm currently sitting on 4 citizenships and counting.

I have passports for AUS (I was born here), UK (dad), and one of my grannies is Irish - given Brexit I might actually go ahead and formalise that one. Not sure I can be bothered with NZ (mum) ;)
