For the finance gurus.
A 12 year investment of mine matured at the end of Nov. Original purchase price was $1. It had a guaranteed return of $1.30 rain, hail or shine. Actual return was $1.5757

With no dividends, looking back at this was this a wise investment? The guarantee was what originally attracted me.

For a guaranteed result it is good depending where you are. However for only a guaranteed 30 percent after 12 years seems a bit low.

Mal at 7% compounding interest your money would double in 10 years.
Now with those "oil rich" nations facing the biggest crunch ever investing over the next 12 years will be interesting.
The withdrawal of petro dollars from the world markets seem certain to cause ructions somewhere or everywhere as those nations are now running massive deficits.

Had to laugh at Bill Lawry's comment that it was raining in Sydney "as usual'.

Consecutive washouts in Aus Tests:
1887-88 Sydney
1931-32 Gabba
1947-48 Sydney
1954-55 Sydney (3 days)
1989-90 Sydney
2015-16 Sydney

How about the seven test series against England in 1970-71. The Melbourne Test was washed out without a ball bowled. They touring party agreed to play a 7th test to make up for the loss of revenue from no game in Melbourne. Can't recall if the selectors had yet sacked Lawry as captain. He has a short memory. For the "most liveable city" Melbourne has the most abominable weather. 42 Celsius one day; 17 Celsius the next. Half the rainfall of Sydney, yet more wet days except for 2015. Melbourne is in severe drought. Only Victorians would live there!

Do you want the good news or the bad news?

The bad news is hot cross buns and easter eggs and bunnies were for sale in the Coles supermarket in Armidale yesterday !!!

I've seen the hot cross buns, but not the chocolate...

What happened to Valentine's Day? How about white bears, red hearts and chocolates. Also we should celebrate 4th July. How about some oictures of Uncle Sam?

You can usually buy toy bears, hearts and chocolates all the time. Not only useful for Valentines Day, but also for, for example, anniversaries, or evading a night in the dog house.

Nothing says "I love you" more on Valentines day than a Chocolate Bunny placed under a Coniferous tree.
