Generally you see these types of hoops in governmental/Uni jobs. This now has leaked to the private section...

I really hate companies and recruiters that wont accept PDF formatted files, as some prefer Word because they can see various things with Word like how you formatted your page or track changes (Grammar naz_s). Plus some recruiters like Word as they manipulate your file before they give it a potential employer.

Oh and that is another thing, them wanting you re-enter the information from your CV/resume for their database/portal.

I slowly getting the disdain for HR like in "The Office".

I like the systems where you upload your CV and it pre-populates the fields with your info to save you having to do it. Seems to be used by a lot of Unis in Aus. Selection criteria are the bane of my existence; most of what they want to know I have already touched on in my cover letter.

Always the tough decision! I've been doing my own thing for about 15 years now and have never contemplated taking on a business partner. When I was consulting as a CEO of a small public company I found I wasn't a good people manager so that cured me of any desire to take on junior staff of my own. I don't advertise, have no web site and besides my core client, take on the jobs that interest me. I've even taken off 6 months when I've been into book-writing mode.Hard to do all that if there is some-one else pedalling away along side you.

And now I've ditched MYOB for Xero I have half a day a month back :)

The dilemma I have is that If i take on any staff, I want a particular type of person, not just anybody who will simply clock in the hours and i scrape my % off the top. I want to offers specialist services, and that requires specialist skills unfortunately. And of training someone for me would be a counter-productive exercise, noone earns a fee during it, and you have to pay them! But my industry is going through good times at present, I should try and find on-the-job training, but then I go back to my point, anyone who is capable is already happily earning at the moment!

I'm using MYOB Essentials, and for what I need it seems to be working fine. I will take a look at XERO, but my accountant can access MYOB and it does auto-bank feeds which are probably the only reasons I'm using it. Otherwise I'd use my own bespoke spreadsheet like I manage my personal finances.

I just realised I have quite a substantial QF voucher from last year's Christmas sale which I haven't used.

Now at least I have ~1.5 months to work out how to use it. Any suggestions?

I like Xero. Accounting and admin shouldn't be a burden for small business.

Just be glad you don't have to deal with some of the systems I deal with.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Why does Qantas have to give me heart palpitations? Then keep me on hold for 35 minutes to find out why they have sent me an email stating my flight has changed. Please call us.

Imagining all the worst scenarios (because it is an award F booking) while on hold driving home from my massage - which was supposed to be relaxing...

Only to find out when I get home and able to access my computer/booking, that it is only a 10 minute departure time change. Sheesh.

I did not need that stress after paying $80.00 for a massage.

We didnt even get a notification for a 25minute change to our F award...

Ooh !! I know that feeling. I usually don't get stressed at all about flight change emails. The time I got most stressed was earlier this year when in the car en-route to JFK I realized via my TripIt Pro that my flight from JFK-DFW was actually going to MIA !!!
Logged onto MMB and it turns out that AA had changed schedules and I was now on an entirely different flight departing an hour and a half earlier from JFK !!!
No notification from QF and my Corp TA who the ticket was booked through had totally failed to let me know once the ticket had been updated. Luckily I had booked the Limo nice and early for some plane spotting and lounging. I made it to check-in with 15 minutes to spare

is it normal to have blood in cough after a long 15-hour nonstop flight? - FlyerTalk Forums

Yes. No email from QF and no alert from TripIt Pro....
Trip it Pro has failed me before (they represented it as a FlightStats fail).

Even though I subscribe, I do not trust it and keep an eye out with FlightAware and other information sources.
