Here is a deal full of fun - all AFFers should have one - Scratch Map from Groupon to record the countries you have visited - $15 + postage.

Got the large one for my birthday this year... It's up on my study wall and making good progress. Had to laugh when I popped over to Perth for my sisters wedding earlier this year, my now BIL bought me the same thing but the mini version. All good fun.

They're actually made by a company in the UK (or sold / marketed at least).

My problem in scratching one of those would be, if I only transited at a place without leaving the airport, should it count? :)

Also, it sometimes seems weird to do something like scratch off Canada, even though the only place I've been in that country is Niagara Falls.

You can do it one of two ways really.... scratch off a country once you've visited, or just scratch off the area around a city. I prefer to just do the whole country!

For me, you have to 'enter' a country for it to count.

Scratching off Russia would be a PITA.

Yes you absolutely must clear immigration IMHO - of course it will be mounted on your wall so I guess you only need be honest to yourself - I love mine - received it as a XMAS gift couple years back - and I know it cost a lot more than $15!

So much cheaper (& quicker) to do it your way.

Then raises thorny questions:

Does visit to LA enable you to scratch off Hawaii and Alaska?
Does visit to Brisbane allow you to scratch off Tassie?
Does transit in Shanghai allow you to scratch off Tibet?

What is the highest percentage of all international airports in the world visited/transited by a single person?

Curiously enough even Google (now using artificial intelligence and tracking what search answers you click on and in what order) has no idea!

If you scratch off a country like USA just by visiting one city - or even just the airport, seems a bit silly as you know deep down you haven't been there.

That's why I love my big framed wall map, you can only stick a pin in the city you have been too (i.e have left the airport) We each have a different colour pin.

The "pin" method is rather common - I've seen a communal map in an office where people have stuck pins marking where the office collectively has been to.

I want to get one of those for the two of us.
