About to go QF24, Bangkok - Sydney, chockers, so as usual my requested upgrade didn't go through, I've never been given one, guess I'm just unlucky :)
I know I shouldn't be surprised, I'm sure QF just use it as a carrot as a way to pay extra and not go for the cheaper redi deals all the time.
No point(!) in collecting QFF points anymore imo, I really don't want to buy toasters. With the change to Woolies rewards it may be time to re-evaluate my loyalty to QF, as they obviously don't think mine is worth having. It might be time to consider my options and not automatically go OW. Best fare of the day will be the future for me.
Also I originally had 24K in a refurbished plane, of course this has been substituted for the older model.
Rant over.

Maybe there should be a separate "get it of your chest" thread :)

I was also disenchanted but discovered on here that award seats on CX flights are often made available just a few days prior.
Just flew BKK-HKG-PER in J on one I booked at the last minute.
Copayment was only $80!

Booked using QF miles? Did you have to stump up at the ticketing office to show your CC or is that no longer a requirement for ex-BKK itineraries?

Reportedly borrowed against the house to fund election expenses

The story covered that. Salary of $300000 as a minister reduced by $92000 when moving to opposition. A minimum of $200000. As I said he clearly needs all the money he can get. Good on him for earning the dosh for his talk last night.

Can't we just leave party politics out of AFF? Who cares?

Who's talking about party politics? Who cares about the comments of someone who clearly don't understand what is being discussed?

Or perhaps I should paraphrase from a frequent contributor to AFF.

I have the right to an opinion. I have a right to free speech. How dare you attack me for expressing my opinion.

You come to work and see another comment on a job that went live last week this is the 3rd issue in less than a week. Then during the course of the day a 4th issue has been identified and you under the pump to fix it.

The next day you call in sick and 2 issues still outstanding.

Coincidence?

From what sources told me and what was reported in the media it was was to fund his lifestyle including 2 of his 3 Daughters privates school fees.

However something doesn't compute if it was to fund election expenses, considering he is in a safe seat and would receive election funding being a seating member. As he only took out a new mortgage after the election.

Thankfully his middle Daughter got a 60K secret scholarship for her Uni Degree.

Booked using Qantas points as a partner award flight through the Qantas website. No requirement to attend anywhere in person.
In fact I didn't even check in with CX as my connecting flights with PG (Bangkok Airways) were delayed so they checked me through.

I should mention that PG did a great job in this regard.
Obviously I was booked on 2 PNRs as I couldn't combine a QF award on CX with a revenue fare on PG.
When my flight departing HDY for HKT was delayed PG proactively sought me out in the airport and asked me for all the information on my connecting flights.
They then put me on a later flight from HKT to BKK, and somehow added the CX sectors to their PNR so they could check me and my baggage all the way through HDY-HKT-BKK-HKG-PER.
They also arranged for me to connect with the CIQ service in BKK so I could disembark from their flight and walked straight to the CX lounge.

*Sidenote - maybe we should avoid using IATA codes as abbreviations for something else?

We had SQ award ticket SYD-SIN-ZRH with ZRH-CDG on Air France, ticket purchased over internet. On showing latter itinerary at SQ checkin baggage was marked to final destination.

Could just be easily stressed, not uncommon in this day and age.

It's all about the interline agreements. Not unusual really.

People are crying for QF flights out of BNE and when the loads are poor complain when the route gets axed.

Qantas can't win either way.

After walking through the Y cabin 25% was a generous estimate, probably 18-20%. Interestingly the flight attendant said J was completely full and i scanned the J cabin on exit and it looked like every seat had been used.

We have just had a fab day in Tokyo. No trouble navigating the subway. My phone says 18440 steps and my feet feel it. Happy at the Mercure Ginza , free upgrade to deluxe room. Looking forward to Teppanyaki dinner.

Sister just called and told me she may have fallen for a phish. Email address and password were requested and unwittingly provided. After changing password once, emails / notes were found in the account sent to banks requesting bank balances and SWIFT codes.

Just told her to change the account password and notify all financial services.

F word may have been suppressed...

The e-mails (and websites) are getting better by the day so it's not surprising more people are getting done. I've had a few e-mails recently that were actually relevant to something I was waiting on...... so really had to dig before I was sure it was a phishing scam. If that's what it's like for me (with technical know how and a keen eye for phishers) ... I dread your average Joe!

Was coming home from the city tonight and witnessed someone pressing the pedestrian signal push button with the sole of their feet. That is beyond belief.

Lower and lower and no way to get back up.

This sounds like a good time for me to post this..... spotted in one of my client's toilets this week.

Its quite common these days for people to use everything but hands to push public buttons. Especially on cruise ships due to rota and other virus borne diseases. Hate using hands to open public toilet doors.

Ditto here. I recently booked Melbourne>Hamburg and Frankfurt>Melbourne using the Qantas site. Emirates one way, Qatar the other. Was able to reserve seats too, although only Emirates allowed me to select a specific seat.

Indeed. I got one purporting to be from Telstra a couple of days ago. It was free from grammatical and spelling errors and since I use Telstra it wasn't unexpected. Classy job. The giveaway was, as usual, is when you hover over links and check the status bar. The URLS were faked.

Indeed. The only reason I mentioned BKK though was because it was always a special case for ex-BKK tickets. AFAIK it never applied to any other POS globally.
