Thought so.

You are of course making a bold assumption that Facebook is progress and some people are left behind. ;)

I see FB as a communication & information tool, much like this site is. It's an alternative way of communication.

With some people, I only see them in person & don't communicate with them in any other way. With others, it's online. Others are a combination of various ways.

There's good & bad about everything we do. I try to have more good than bad.

Whilst I have not much respect for Palmer, there's more to that story that meets the eye.

In the end, IMO if you pay $40 for a steak, I would fully expect it to be cooked to your liking without fail. But if a business' response to your complaint is to kick you out, then so be it. On the customer side, they are probably not worth your business; from the business side, you are probably not worth the customer.

Finally, at $950 a night, I hope Palmer (or anyone, for that matter) has at least put out some very good lodgings, even if it is a private villa.

(Mis)understandably, there are some here who may not care less about the situation as the afflicted party is French.

So the formal part of our annual family get together was Sat night - this is where we met:

Dick Whttington Tavern in Chapel St, St Kilda - gotta love the bottle shop attached huh?:

If I was allowed to post photos, I would put up a picture of a bottle shop on Oxford St that advertises 'liquor here' (with slightly different spelling in 3 words rather than 2)

I think they might have caused some confusion for those looking for the cross with the previous version of 'liquor shop'.

I am not sure there is more to the story at all, its remarkably in profile with a picture painted last week by the 7.30 report:

Clive Palmer's style comes under attack - 19/11/2013

I would suggest paying any money at the resort might not be a good thing.

Oh well, doesn't help endear any more respect I have for the man.

Just saying, it could be a Fawlty Towers thing. But as it stands, Palmer may not even care as it's not big fish fry. Probably used to being touted in the media anyway, so this is a "big deal" (read: it's not).

At the Oaks (pub Neutral Bay, Syd) you can pay up to that mark for a steak you need to cook yourself. Man, have I cooked some steaks on those grills!

Ditto, and wondered why at times, of course such thoughts were soon washed away, it one thing I miss working about at Nth Sydney.

We are talking about someone who boarded up the kitchens in the units so people had to eat out apparently!

I'm assuming that is one substantial reason why his resort isn't doing so well (cuts, removal of value, low patronage)?

Could be wrong on that one - could be one of those places people stay because they have no choice (or are caught by the fact they enjoyed a previous stay there when it used to be owned by the previous group).

Website says you can either cook it yourself or a chef will cook it for you.

If the latter, they'd better get it right. If the former, well, you can't really blame anyone else unless you were given rubbish to start with.

I'd be kicked out if I was spotted receiving a cooked beast from the kitchen;)

Speaking of signs, this one is an oldie but a goodie. I have heard that they are open 24/7 now.

I've had a productive afternoon. I've been food shopping, sent off for my AFF luggage tags (finally!) & booked my accommodation for Japan & one of my US destinations (PDX). I'll be staying in Skinjuku for about $120 AUD a night. Hotel looks alright.
