The service on that flight was...SMOKING!

Another 'Lucky' blog. Yawn, the update is just sad ... Over the top hysterics with a moral overtone of I'm better than them.

I think the best bit was that FAA could do something about it...

Sometimes Lucky writes some great stuff but other times I am reminded how US-centric thinking he can be.

Not only Chinese pilots still smoke on the job.

I flew with Tarom last year, sat in row 1 and suddenly smelled cigarette smoke. My seat mate smelled the same thing so I've asked the FA who is smoking on the plane. She said no one and seemed upset about the question. I got up and walked down the back, there was no smell there. Back in J the cabin was stinking and other pax complained as well. Checked the toilet but there was no strong smell there. FA gave us some bull**** excuses trying to cover up for the offenders, who were clearly the ones sitting in the coughpit.

Why the heck was Lucky even flying to China? It's virtually impossible to completely avoid cigarette smoke anywhere there.

He will fly anywhere cheap cash/points redemption will take him, it's his job. The smoking story gave him another article to add to his Chase CC promotion blog.

I think smokers forget how gross the smell is. Being trapped in a confined space with a bad smell is not a good time.
In 1989 I was travelling from DPS to MEL with a mate. He was a smoker so we had 'smoking' seating down the back.

Smoking was deemed not so much an issue back then.

After the no-smoking light went off the cabin very quickly reeked of the clove cigarettes that were popular in Asia back then.

It took several washes to get the reek out of my clothing.

Definitely. He's always entertaining: be it for genuinely good content or a certain 'only-child'/'DYKWIA' attitude that creeps into his posts.

Still, what a life!

I never realised how awful cigarette smell was until I gave up smoking in 2003. Back then clubs were still smoking and went out to RSL one night and when I came back home could not get rid of the stench from my clothes.

Walking in Edward Street and George Street in Brisbane during a work day and the buildings stink. Most clubs have smoking areas with pokies using a revolving door. The non-smoking area stinks.
