The rise of the Bogan traveller

Let's not start picking on the Germans!! :p

I wonder what the airline could do though. I guess he must have broken some law.

Urination in a public place. Max penalty 1 year, conviction and/or a fine (maybe $250) in qld. Or so I've been told.

CASA website has this:-
Passengers should not use threatening, abusive or insulting language, or behave in a threatening, abusive, insulting or disorderly manner on board an aircraft. Passengers must not interfere with pilots or cabin crew in the performance of their duties, interfere with aircraft equipment, or disobey any instructions given by a member of the aircraft crew. If passengers do not comply with these requirements, they may be issued with an infingement notice by CASA or prosecuted.
Surely his actiions would be classed as disorderly at least?
Cheers

But the "should not" is not a prohibition from being disorderly. You should not be disorderly but that doesn't mean you can't be disorderly. It is the must nots that are important and no doubt the pilot telling them to stop being disorderly then comes under must not disobey a pilot.

Actually he was trying to improve himself. Instead of me, me, me he has changed to wee, wee wee.

Missed it by that much...
He was obviously one of the little pigs.

LCCs don't have the monopoly on bogans. On a recent hour in the SYD J lounge I was reminded of what some people see as a family day out at the local supermarket.

Screaming unruly kids, loud conversations, people who think mobile phones are connected by string so need shouting, grabbing food like a starved greyhound, more empty glasses and plates sitting around than at a kids' birthday party, kids showing off their latest ballet lesson, and some pax who are unfortunately unaware that there are showers in the lounge. Then there are the parents who need to fill four overhead bins with bags of baby stuff just because they can.

Then they think it's up to QF FAs to deal with the brats and screamers once on board.

There should be a strictly enforced code of conduct and dress code in the J lounge and QP.

Airlines should enforce strict dress codes on flights!
I agree with you but it is not likely to happen considering the path that society has decide to take.

One can only hope. I mean travelling MEL-SIN with no pockets on the clothing at all! I could not possible feel comfortable. Anyway....

Fair call John - there's just no dignity in people these days, manners, class and breeding doesn't seem to be inculcated anymore.

Oh, FFS, please lighten up a little.

Yes, there are people out there who don't know the ettiquete (I think I've spelt it incorrectly, but) of travel, but ..... who are we to judge?

This may be the only opportunity they have to travel. They may have spent there entire savings to see a (dying/sick/soon to be married member of their family. They may be heading off for their first ever OS holiday.

My rule of thumb;

If I don't want to hear them, then I'll move, 'cause there's no way they will move.
Bose QC15. Back-up is Sony NC ear plugs.

There's a lot more rude people out there. Try travelling on some LCC's in China, or India.
:)

We are being way too kind.

These people do no care about us and clearly do not know any better.

And we should be tolerant of them while they embarass us?

If you do not know how to behave on overseas travel then you should not be travelling....

I find this bogan thing amusing and annoying. Amusing as we can have a laugh, annoying as it seems some people associate uneducated, unruly, lack of manners, lack of class etc as being boganish or the result of being bogan.

The rudest thing I recall occuring happening to me recently was in Melbourne at the J lounge. I was standing back slightly giving the food pref lady room as she was changing the empty scrambled egg dish. This @rsehole who was not wearing black jeans, but wait for it, a suit pushes in front goes to get food realises there is none and stands with back half an inch from my face. He (maybe I) was lucky I didn't punch the DYKWIA out of him, instead I poked him the back and said excuse me, I was here first. (In case this person was one of my illustrious fellow forum members, I'll leave it at that)

Second was flying F MEL-SIN-LHR on QF, there were 2 adults and 3 children yunder about 7, on flying home for their holidays in F on BP's dime. The little darling behind me found it appropriate when he awoke to wake everyone around him, by moving around, jumping, and then tapping/kicking the back of my seat. I don't know many bogans working for BP and being flown with entire family to LHR in F.

Another thing I recall is seeing the pax seated next to me in J picking his nose and wiping it on the pillow as I was boarding my flight. I did post about this one somewhere else on this forum.

And these are excuses for appalling behaviour?

No.

The more we fly private, the less we ever want to go near a public terminal - even a first class terminal - ever again.

Well I was guilty of apalling behaviour yesterday so I guess I must be a bogan.Little old lady gets assisted pre boarding at MCY even using the lift not stairs-hence delaying the flight. However in SYD immediately the seat belt sign is off she gets to jump up-I beat her and neatly prevented her from getting straight into the aisle.:)
