The Qantas Status Run Master Thread

That's fantastic if true, and yes I just used the calculator instead of checking the tables. My fault for trusting Qantas IT!

$2.65/SC in that case which is fantastic
Is that with AA or AS ?

I think that I have read somewhere on AFF that a WP can request the QF call centre to make a J points seat available(?) - but can a WP request the call centre to make a Y points seat available? (its a flight operated by a Q300 so no J option).

A WP can request any redemption seat in any cabin to my understanding (and past experience). Needs to be the lower fare classes available I think. More knowledgeable members on the forum can explain the fare classes better.
Request is easy. Success is more challenging.

MIA-CLT-DFW-MEX in J for $575 and its possibly 160 SCs or 220SCs depending on what combination of trust you have in the status calculator vs tables vs reports. So somewhere between $2.88 and $3.65 which is still top tier.

I haven't been able to find any good pricing on transcontinental routes (lots of $5-6/SC) so far so using these more creative ones.

This is probably the wrong thread, however I have searched quite a bit and cannot find the answer and it is related to extra SC:

I note on the Jetstar booking site, that MEL-SIN-BKK earns 180 SC in J max, even though the SIN-BKK is economy. Doe anyone have any verification if this earn is correct? Not a bad deal for around $900.

Second question, is there any way to combine a paid fare like this onto a classic reward? IE, paid JQ booking on one PNR with a classic on Emirites? I have tried multi city and did ask the call centre a while back so I presume it is no.

Thankyou

Mr Katie “needs” around 250 SCs ex BNE by mid-July due to my miscalculations. Any suggestions? Erk. 😕

Hi all. My wife has started travelling for work in a new role. Historically she has always been Qantas FF Silver, but has recently become a Qantas Gold FF member. Her membership year ends 30 June 2025 and (after a quick trip this weekend) will be sitting on 1,210 SC. She is 205 SC off her next loyalty bonus so she will need to find 190 SC to attain Platinum by 30 June. Given her travel schedule over the next few months, we think it will be valuable for her to be Platinum for the various flights because on current trajectory she will be in a similar position next year (which would allow her to retain Platinum).

If anyone has planned a status run ex-Sydney during the last 2 weeks of June, I would be interested to hear what you have planned.

Alternatively, on the basis that she has 700k points, would there be any utility in asking Qantas to 'buy' the required SC's?

Has she already jumped through the Green Tier hoops for 50 SC?

You can't attain a new tier using points, Qantas only allows retaining an existing tier using points (not officially published but lots of data points on AFF)

Does she have Points Club?

For 190SC - SYD-MEL-AKL-SYD in Qantas Business should do it. However, given the travel date is closer might be expensive. If you/your wife have a $ figure in mind to get that remaining 190SC and if you think it is worth it - then go for it.

Status comes down to how much the person/holder considers it worth.

Edit: If not considered & signed up for - QF Double Status Credits promos are out, usually twice a year. It's a week long promo that Qantas runs. Register for the promo before making a booking. Any bookings made in that promo week will qualify for double status credits. Meaning, SYD-MEL will give 10 SC normally, but bookings made within that promo week will give 20SC. Essentially what this means is the passenger can attain their desired status with half the travel. There are other T&Cs to be considered. Have this in the back of your head and keep an eye out for when promos are released. There will be a lot of activity here during DSC period. Good luck.

Thanks so much for the helpful replies.

sudoer - good points on the Green Tier. I am working on that and if short, that may be a pathway through. Ade - thank you too for the route recommendation. I will look into this and report back if we pull the trigger.
