The Qantas Singapore Lounge

I challenge you to exactly describe the dishes of chicken, lamb and beef served by Cathay and Malaysia and convince me they are Western. I'm going to go out on a limb and bet they are not.
Cathay

- Roast Lamb (only 1 way to have roast lamb with gravy on the side)
- Salmon
- Steak
- Pork chops
- Chicken (I have decribed the name of the dish in this thread, even if it is Asian style it is more than suitable as a western option)

Malaysia

- Lamb cutlets (no sauce)
- Lamb chops (no sauce)

Emirates

- Lamb cutlets (no sauce)
- Steak (no sauce)

I can't imagine any meat without sauce on a buffet to be that great.

Each to their own...

Buffet style.

There is something seriously wrong with the meat if you have to put some type of sauce on it. But I guess that is just me.

How would you keep it from drying out unless you refreshed the meat quickly?

The only one I would think fair is lamb, which if cooked pink and rested well, can sit for ages without drying out quickly (well, at least the inside, not the outside...)

I probably wouldn't try the steak, which methinks would be tough and dry unless it is put out fresh. Had enough experience of that from banquet buffet dinners.

Have to say that despite the fact it's just slabs of meat, sounds like the Cathay lounge has improved its offerings substantially since I was last there.

That looks a little better but I am totally misunderstood on this thread.

There is nothing really wrong with the Qantas menu but all I am asking for is 1 western option (out of 4 usually on offer) as a main meal. Obviously too much to ask.

You are hardly misunderstood John. The western options aren't to your liking so you play the victim card, trying to belittle those who don't agree with your POV.

You are way off the mark again so let me clarify.

I dont care who agrees with my point of view. You are belittling me.

Pasta, salad and dessert do not count as Western options.

Can I please continue with my argument without you putting me down?

John, where have I put you down?

You selectively quote others ignoring their information that contradicts your claims.

Why shouldn't pasta count as a western option? Why not the chicken dish that was shown in the menu posted last night?

You are not misunderstood, you just don't like the options on offer (which is your prerogative), yet you ignore those who question your view and play the victim card...

You have done it a number of times now but it is just as well I am thick. And I do not hold it against you.

You selectively quote others ignoring their information that contradicts your claims.

That chicken dish is more than adequate as a western option which is why I responded to the post by moa999.

Give me a little credit. I am not asking for a lot even though you think so. Perhaps I just shut up in this thread now and leave it up to the experts.

CANT THIS THREAD BE MOVED BACK TO ORIGINAL AND LET MANNEJI AND JOHNK TO FIGHT IT OUT AMONGST THEMSELVES WITH A NEW THREAD ABOUT cooking ?

I think you just made $50. That's it.

Hope your friend is a good drinker.

Perhaps have Matt Preston to play the 'Judge Judy" role ;-)

I will be visiting this lounge in the next few months - and not a moment too soon. The suspense (and varying opinions) as to whether it is good, bad or indifferent is killing me. :)
But I will make these points in the interim:
1) Sparkling wine is sparkling wine, no matter what geographical region it is produced in or what it is called. All down to the quality of grape, terroir, and the skill of the winemaker.
2) to suggest there are 'no' Western food options (oh, except pasta which I don't like) defies logic. The pasta *is* a Western food option, just one the poster does not like (FWIW I'm not usually big on lounge pasta either - though I usually like Asian food also, so not necessarily s big issue for me).
3) it ain't difficult to provide a/some PCs and printer(s) - not everyone wishes to lug a device around as well (again, FWIW, I usually do, but would welcome the opportunity to use a lounge-provided one from time to time).
What a robust little place this forum becomes from time to time. :)

Does that mean you are coming to SIN do?
