The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

the flight reward finder seems to be ‘indicative’ IME, and it says ‘last checked ‘x’ hours ago’… which seems to suggest it’s not live.

It’s strange the agent can ‘see’ the flights but not quote on points… if they were there they’d be able to book them.

Unless it’s some sort of strange routing or airline?
The Flight Reward Finder does give the option to refresh the search

Mine was a simple QF MEL-HKG return. I just shifted everything forward a week and have tickets secured

Scheduled to fly on QF29 tomorrow with a CR business redemption, when doing OLCI it says "You're checked in, but you'll need to collect your boarding pass from a Qantas customer service agent." - does this mean I've been bumped?

Not at all, it usually means a passport/identity check

Then I’d reckon it’s unusual for the second ticket holder to be issued a boarding pass… without confirmation of onward or return travel, or indeed whether or not a visa is required.
Even though Australian passport holders do not need visa to enter Hong Kong? Passport numbers were provided during the OLCI process..

Sorry, for some reason I had bangkok, not Hong Kong in mind!

Passengers without an onward or return ticket can be refused entry into Hong Kong, so the airline will be wanting to check your onwards travel (source TIMATIC).

Honestly nothing to worry about. Pretty normal to have this show up. Hard to say exactly what flags it down. But unless you are doing carry-on only, you would need to see an agent to do bag drop regardless.
