The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Hi all - I'm sure this question has been asked & answered before, but I wasn't able to find it anywhere.

I'm looking to cancel a one-way NRT-BNE booking for myself and a family member.

If I cancel for a flight credit, can I use the full credit issued for both pax towards a future booking for myself only? Or is it the case that the credit must be redeemed 50/50 between the original passengers?

Officially you need to use it for 2 pax as they'll generate basically a dummy which has 2 passengers as the flight credit. But if you get a competent call centre staff (this part is the difficult part) I believe it is possible to roll it into one.

Or they should at least be able to split it into two credits - one for each of you.

OK, here is another "newbie" question but the answer is beyond the reach of google.

And may also be a challenge for most here...

We all know there are some QF flights that are ostensibly international flights but can take domestic PAX. These are usually the domestic legs of flights coming into PER. Usually domestic PAX have to leave the international terminal they arrive in.

HOWEVER: what if the flight is actually the first leg of an international flight? That is, PAX flying PER to USA via SYD. It would be stupid for them to have to go through Australian incoming immigration just to turn around and go back through outgoing immigration. struggling with long lines in both directions.

Does anyone know if such PAX can do the sensible thing and stay in SYD international terminal airside?

I remember a similar thread:

Might be the wrong thread, but i vaguely remember it not being doable by someone else. Can't seem to find the thread right now.

That would be a relevant thread (although not too enlightening).

I would asume a bona fide international PAX would stay airside at SYD via the transfer security - so long as they have an onward BP (there are transfer desks just prior to security).

I did it once years ago coming from ADL on QF connecting to UA to LAX. A novel experience for me at my home airport.

Oh sorry i remember now, it was JQ. In that instance it was no. Not sure how QF would treat it.
