The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Hello! I've booked a Qantas business class ticket from Melbourne to Broome. The first leg to Perth is on an A330 in business class, followed by a 3-hour layover in Perth before continuing to Broome on a QantasLink A319, which only has economy seating.

Am I eligible to access the Qantas Business Lounge in Perth during the layover? I also have a Qantas Club membership.

Thanks!
We were granted business class lounge at Perth.

Ended up flying economy all the way MEL-PER-BME after not receiving upgrade request. We both have Qantas club only. My elderly father was assisted in a wheelchair from Melbourne check-in. After arriving in Perth I mentioned staff we were going to wait in lounge (expecting regular lounge) before Broome flight. Staff wheeled him directly to business lounge (probably easier access for everyone on ground level). Excellent lounge - comfortable and polite staff. Qantas staff have always been outstanding in helping my father navigate the airport and aircraft boarding etc. Thanks, everyone for your answers.

Is there a trick to find the other airlines booking references when booking reward seats on QF points but flying JAL and Cathay please?
For both JL and CX, the booking references are the same as the QF reference provided when booking the reward seat.
And, for airlines such as AA, go to Qantas Manage booking and Flight Details. You should see text such as:

That's good to hear, and you had a good trip to Broome. The Qantas staff, Ground, Cabin and Flight crews, make Qantas what it is - pity about the management.

Hope somebody can help me please? My wife and I recently flew Melboure to Jakarta on QF39 Business class. Booked with points. Then from Jakarta we flew Malaysian Airlines to Danang also business. But we paid for those tickets.
Hers the odd bit. She has been credited status points for the Qantas leg. I was not. I was credited status points for the Malaysian leg and she was not.
Obviously done something wrong? Also she can see some upcoming Malaysian Airlines trips on her App. I can’t. Very confusing.
Hoping for some help please. Thanks

Unless you've attained Points Club status, you won't earn Status Credits for award flights.

Were the Malaysian flights all reserved under the one booking, or are you and your wife booked under separate PNRs (i.e. booking references)?

Ahh. That would be right. I have Points Club and she doesn’t! Yes the Malaysian Airlines trips are the same booking reference. You e been bloody helpful so far!! Thanks!

Are you sure you’ve got the details right?

If you’ve got Points Club but she doesn’t, it should have been you that got status credits on the QF points flight and she shouldn’t have.

But you said it was the other way around in the OP

I’m a bloody dill. Apologies. I received the Qantas SC and she received the Malaysian SC. I have the Points Club. Maybe the reason I didn’t get the Malaysian points is my FF number is not attached to Malaysian. As much as I have looked I just can’t see if that’s the case. And it could explain why I can’t see upcoming Malaysian trips?

It would, in which case you could request retrospective addition of any missing points + SC through Qantas.

Looks like QF is having dry luck with aerobridges. In ADL now wanting to depart to MEL, but the aerobridge seem to hard to latch on to with the inbound. The bridge has been moved and readjusted theee times before they got it right. Subsequent departure delayed by 5 mins so far. I expect further delays (at least by 15 mins) to account for cleanup and other formalities.

Has anyone had any luck with using single invite lounge passes lately? Here is my situation. 1 Adult and 2 Children(ages 12 and 9). I have 2 invites to the Qantas club which I can link to my booking Brisbane to Sydney(morning flight second week of October school holidays). Its good if I can use them but I don't want to cause a scene at the lounge entrance or anything. Do the staff have any flexibility to let a extra child in? I have seen the conditions of entry that state children over 2 need their own passes. But is it possible they may allow 1 extra child in?

It's not impossible. It'll be Dragon Discretion, though.
