Morning all.

Just received an email from Qantas Platinum One.
It is introducing ' The Platinum One Briefing' which is an update on QF's latest news and has a link for 2 QF
Club Invitations. All very interesting and seems like an 'enhancement'.

Be great for my sister's family on an upcoming international trip. But only if kids can get in free??

Great to see some enhancements to the program. Hope people leave "detailed feedback" as requested so Platinum One get an understanding of how they could improve it further with tangible benefits.

Quite a lot of good ideas have been discussed in this forum. Hopefully (with feedback) we may see some of those suggestions filter through to the P1 program.

Hmmm if I was to get P1 I'd likely get it near the end of my membership year and on the back of Double Status Credits. Would you get another two passes the next membership year whether or not you retain P1?

Yes, good idea. I definitely will be leaving detailed feedback

Unsure, I don't think so though. You'd get another two only if you requalify I'd say.

Pretty impressed with this outreach as it seems a new direction may be being taken by P1. While the "Briefing" is "signed" by Lesley Grant, I wonder if this is the sign of things changing with the new team coming in. Either way it's great that they appear to be seeking more and regular engagement with the members via a monthly email. Now it may just all be gloss (suych as the "P1 of the month" bit) or it may work to be more useful. At least it's a positive change, specially with the Flounge-useable passes as a step in the right direction.

Now this may not last, or may just turn into junk folder worthy stuff like the usual monthly emails, but it's better than nothing and certainly makes P1 seem more visible to the membership than it has been bar the odd call, invite or assistance.

I certainly intend to give positive feedback

Some real tangible perks being added are good and can only make the program more valuable to the members, even if in a small way.

A positive move I'd say. Well done QF.

Hopefully some improvements are given to other high levels as well e.g. WP. Whilst WP probably wouldn't get any FLounge invitations there must be something they could give to improve things.

I highly doubt kids would get in free on this. This would be strictly one passenger per invitation one would think. You could use an invitation to get a kid in, but they would need to be accompanied by an adult with access (e.g. through another invitation).

If you want to get kids in for free use the access your status or class of travel gives you.

I really welcomed this morning's email and will definitely provide feedback. It's good to see a real enhancement, in a positive direction.

uh seriously? dude you get there on bonus SC offers and then want more when Plat's are a dime a dozen (even moreso due to bonus SC offers). this is why QF is limiting qualifying SC earn for P1(in part).

sorry but I think a reference to "The Castle" is relevant here.

I would expect a number of P1s only get that because of DSC too.

I may actually requalify for WP next membership year even if my DSCs didn't count.

With Plat benefits being stripped away over time it would be nice if that trend was halted and some benefits were added, rather than P1 getting all the love. It's nice that P1 is getting more benefits.

Plat's get love at 2400 SC's.

The Platinum benefits have been eroded due to the large numbers of elites generated by DSC and other ptomos. Of course, that has been QF's choice to do so. I am sure JohnK in particular will be happy to discuss this in an appropriate thread :)

And while yes, some current P1's (including myself) have gotten there with the aid of DSC (only 1 year, not the other 3 of the past 4 years I have been P1, just for the record) QF has flagged bonus SC promos will not apply (eg: Loyalty Bonus SC's) there is definitely an intent by QF to maintain an integrity of the level and I am more than happy with that.

At any rate, this thread is about the P1 Briefing, so perhaps best to stick to that topic.

Bit of truth in both posts there. ;)
And it's relevant.

lol - that is really stretching the envelope I think :)

No or yes, depending on what your scenario means. I took the time to read through the terms and conditions etc and I think they have done a good job there - things are very clear. The two passes:
(a) are only valid during the membership year they are issued in - ie they expire the same time as your current P1 membership expires.
(b) you do not get new passes in the next membership year unless you are requalified as P1
(c) the scenario you put I understand to be where towards the end of your current membership year you attain P1. At that point you would get the passes, but with validity only until the end of this membership year. Because you will then have attained P1 for the next membership year, at your renewal date the first two die and you get two new ones. Is that what you meant?

Yes that's the scenario I meant.
